10BLAST and RECORDING RESULT IN MYCRICKET WEBSITE

10Blast cricket incorporates varying rules to “normal” cricket. In particular, when a falls, the batsman is , but extra runs are added to the fielding side’s batting total. This presents some difficulty in scoring and entering results/player scores into the MyCricket website. This document is designed to help those who are unfamiliar with how to score and record results.

To simplify the explanation an example of an actual game is used.

Team A (Jenny, Zach, Susie and Brendan) is playing Team B (Anne, Andy, Billy and Zena).

In this example, to simplify the explanation, the game is of 4 players, with 8 overs played. Batsmen bat in pairs for 4 overs, and each bowler bowls 2 overs.

Team A bats first:

- At the end of its overs, Team A has scored 32 runs off the bat and sundries for the loss of 8 .

- Two of its batters – Zach (2) and Tom (3) - have been dismissed more than once in their .

Team A’s score sheet may look something like the diagram on the next page. (Anne has bowled overs 1 & 3; Andy 2 &4;Billy5& 7;andZena6 &8).

NOTE the following.

1. It is not possible to record a batter’s dismissal in the appropriate columns if he/she is dismissed more than once in the innings. To accommodate this, simply write down the dismissal details in the RUNS AS SCORED column.

2. In our example, Tom has been out by Anne in the 7th of the game (in Billy’s second over). This wicket is not credited to the bowler.

Team B then has its turn to bat and loses 5 wickets while scoring 27 runs off the bat and sundries.

Nowcomes the task of determining the final scores for each team.

In MOD10, a team is awarded 3 bonus runs for each opponent wicket it takes. These bonus runs are added to its score as “Penalty Sundries”

In our example:

TEAM A has scored 32 runs AND taken 5 of Team B’s wickets. Therefore its score (32) is adjusted by adding 3 x 5 = 15 to give TeamAtotalof 47

TEAM B has scored 25, AND taken 8 of Team A’s wickets. Its adjusted totalthus is 25 + (8 x 3 = 24) which equals 49.

TEAM B is therefore the winner.

After the diagram below, we will explain how to fill out the MYCricket Web-Site recording for 10Blast games, using our example: BATSMEN RUNS AS SCORED HOW BOWLER SCORE Ovrs runs OUT 1 (bowled Anne) 1 2 2 1 1-3 JENNY 6 2 3-5 (caught Zena, bowled Andy (bowled Andy) 1 2 1 1 1 3 3-10 ZACH 6 4 3-17 (bowled Billy) 1 5 4-17 SUSIE 1 6 7-20 (bowled Zena) (caught Billy, bowled Zena) 2 (bowled Zena) 1 2 2 1 (run out Anne) 7 8-27 BRENDAN 8 8 8-32 BYES lll TOTAL 9 (▲) SUNDRIES 3 11 10

The website has been set up for recording statistics for a “normal” game of cricket. This creates two problems for recording 10Blast results:

- How to account for a batter being out more than once in an innings. - How to allow for bonus runs added for opposition dismissals.

Do this is as follows: 1. When recording how a batter was dismissed, only show how he/she was dismissed the first time. 2. When recording the bowler’s and fielder’s statistics, include ALL dismissals which he/she obtained in the innings.

FOR EXAMPLE: In Team A’s innings (above) Zach was dismissed twice and Brendan three times. When recording the batting statistics, have them as follows. ZACH caught ZENA, bowled ANDY 6 runs BRENDAN bowled ZENA 8 runs.

In doing so, it might seem that in the final result, Andy has only taken 1 wicket (when in fact he dismissed Zach twice). However, if you record all dismissals Andy takes in his bowling analysis, the full achievement will be shown

ADDING BONUS RUNS

This is quite simple. The MyCricket site has provision in the sundries for adding PENALTY RUNS. Insert the number of bonus runs into this space provided.

In our example, the match score card (for Team A) will look like this...

JENNY b ANNE 6 ZACH c ZENA b ANDY 6 SUSIE b BILLY 1 BRENDAN b ZENA 8 Extras (4nb, 3w, 3b, 1lb, 15pen) 26 Total 8/47 Overs 8

Bowling: O M W R ANNE 2 2 1 8 ANDY 2 0 2 7 BILLY 2 2 1 7 ZENA 2 0 3 6

Fielding: c ro st ANNE 1 BILLY 1 ZENA
