Brooklyn, 18 June, 2016

It was a good turnout for the ride, Brian rode to my place then we set off, he was on a 250 Jawa, I wanted to ride my Firebird but it wouldn't start must have been too cold should have left it in the garage. Rode the Golden flash, got to Asquith there were many bikes already there, Jim Fox, Joe Wursten, Doug Mullen, Paul Hansen, and two other riders, one on a Suzuki 250 and the other on a Ducati. Tony Gosling met us at Peats Ridge. Brian nearly fell off at the start because he starts his bike with the side stand down. The stand must not have been properly secured to the frame. It was suggested he use the centre stand because it is more robust. My Golden Flash attracted a lot of attention from other riders and car club members who were present.

Next Sunday is the combined BSA club and Norton Owners club ride to Brookvale, so the meeting point is St Ives Showground at 9am see you there.

BSA boys (and girls) at the Surfside

6 10 July Colo Heights , 2016

We had a fine morning as the team rounded up at Kellyville. John B on his Triumph, Joe on his HD, Ron on his '54 B33 (the one that broke down on the Kiama run) - so good to see it up and running, Brian on his Jawa, Craig on his Honda, Victor on his BSA and Paul giving Brett P's bike a trial run after some mechanic work. Brett's bike looked nice.

Paul headed back home as he wasn't planning a long run with Brett's bike and the team got away around 9.45am. Down Windsor Road to Wilberforce and then onto the Putty Road. Part way along we met up with Eric on his '39 G14 - another fine looking bike in original kit. The team then proceeded onto the Colo Heights Cafe at .... Colo Heights. A couple of coffees, some warm pies and tucker and good conversation and then it was off, back down Bull Ridge and West Portland Roads and then onto Greens Road. It was on Greens Road that Ron's bike stopped. Craig stopped as well as he was TEC (as usual). Ron said that there was no drive with the clutch out. It wasn't long before the team rode back to the breakdown. Fortunately Eric's place was only a km away, so Eric went and brought back his trailer. Once loaded up we all went to Eric's place.

Eric has a great spread right on the Hawkesbury River. Whilst Brian and Ron worked on the bike, Eric took the team for a tour. Kangaroos on the property only added to the picture. I'm hoping that we can talk Eric into a ride to his property some time for BBQ.

In the meantime, Ron and Brian found some clutch retainer bolts not nipped up, but after completing this the bike still would not go. It was then that Brian noticed the rear cog turning but not the back wheel. This is when Ron described in colourful language his views on BSA quality.

By now it was approaching 3pm and it was decided that the bike would stay at Eric's place and Victor would double Ron back to Sydney. We all headed off and arrived without further events.

Ron now has the dubious honour of two breakdowns on two Club rides on the one bike. He is up for the next ride's coffees!
