Student/Graduate Landscape Architect Park Revealed JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: Student/Graduate Landscape Architect – Revealed (GPR) Based: Greenwich Park Office, Greenwich, , SE10 8QY. Salary: £22,090 - £23,500 pro rata, depending on experience. Terms: Fixed term, part-time 12 month contract flexible to meet study needs – regular 1 or 2 days per week and vacation work. Depending on operational needs, there will be the occasional requirement for out of hours and weekend working, with time off in lieu or overtime subject to line management approval. 26 days annual leave pro rata plus public holidays. A pension scheme is available.

BACKGROUND

The Royal Parks is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are: Hyde Park, , The , St James’s Park, The Regent’s Park and , Greenwich Park, and . We also manage other important public spaces including and . Our eight Royal Parks and other public spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year. In January 2020 Greenwich Park was awarded £4.5 million for the restoration of Greenwich Park by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) ‘Parks for People’ programme. This 4 year project with an overall budget of £7.5 million will celebrate and reveal the past, protect and conserve the present and provide better facilities, learning, training, volunteering and access to the park for new audiences into the future. TRP are setting up an in-house Landscape Studio under the direction of the Head of Landscape to deliver the technical design for the landscape elements of the GPR project.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide technical support for the delivery of the landscape elements of the Greenwich Park Revealed project funded by the NLHF and the NLCF ‘Parks for People’ programme covering RIBA Stages 4-6 including detailed technical design, tender, construction and handover. The successful candidate will be involved in technical aspects of project delivery, benefiting from a wide range of learning opportunities. They will act as a link between the project and the student Landscape Architect community, exploring and developing creative opportunities to share learning with peers at their own University and with the wider profession, creating a legacy that will be built on over the 4 years of the project.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Technical • Work closely with the Senior Landscape Architect/ Project Manager and the TRP Landscape Studio to support the design and delivery of a wide range of landscape projects to deliver GPR project outcomes • Liaise with the GPR project team, consultants, contractors and other specialists through all stages of project delivery responding to requests for information and liaising with the Park Management team • Assist with the production of drawings and information, the organisation and

W2 2UH. t: :0300 061 2000 e: [email protected]. w: royalparks.org.uk management of CAD files and other software • Assist research and investigation working with volunteer groups, ‘Friends of’ groups, consultants and specialist interest groups • Carry out surveys, document and record information preparing reports and presentation material • Prepare illustrative material for stakeholder engagement, dissemination of design ideas and proposals to support funding opportunities • Assist with the filing and archiving of all project documentation in line with NLHF/ NLCF and TRP requirements • Carry out minute taking as and when required • Support the preparation of tender and procurement documentation • Support the delivery of physical and digital interpretation initiatives, and the implementation of a whole park signage strategy • Support monitoring and evaluation of the project, recording and supplying information as required • Work closely with the Park and Community Project Manager and the Partnership and Community Engagement Officer (PACE) to ensure the delivery of people and community project outcomes throughout the delivery of the capital works • Proofread documents and project briefs as part of quality assurance procedures

2. Learning and Student Liaison • Act as a representative and point of liaison between the GPR Project Team and the University to develop and support delivery of collaborative learning opportunities • Support the organisation and delivery of collaborative projects with the Landscape Architecture and Architecture departments and the wider academic community • Disseminate learning from the project amongst the wider academic and industry peer groups • Contribute to the creation of a legacy of learning material that will be built on throughout the project and be accessible to future generations of students after the completion of the GPR project

3. Consultation and Stakeholder Engagement • Represent the GPR Project at events and activities as required • Work closely with the Partnership and Community Engagement (PACE) Officer to support the delivery of workshops, events, meetings and activities • Assist the PACE Officer in capturing data for monitoring and evaluation • Work closely with the PACE Officer to provide opportunities for student volunteering and learning across all aspects of the project, liaising with your own University and other colleges, and higher education establishments • Work closely with the GPR project team to produce graphic and other material to support consultation

4. Royal Parks Policies and Procedures • Be aware of TRP’s Landscape Management Strategies and how they support/ deliver and inform the Park Conservation and Operational Plans and other strategies (Trees/ Events/ Play etc) • Be aware of your responsibilities as described in the Health & Safety Manual and summarised in the Health & Safety Handbook and in particular to implement the policy in your area of responsibility • Comply with all Royal Parks’ policies including health and safety, diversity & equality, information assurance, financial management regulations and other relevant Royal Parks and Government regulations and directives
