Selected classes offered may include but are not limited to topics in the following subjects: International Relations Intercultural Relations Japanese Studies & Business Draft Ver.2 mirror Japan: Culture Society & Business for Goa University 2013 Page 2 Purpose of this program Expose yourself to a different culture and country Learn and feel the differences of lifestyle, food, history, people, culture and more. Students can learn Japanese through experience and activities with Nihon University students and campus life. Students can practically learn about Japanese culture through class lectures and experiences. Learn about Japan through fun and enjoyable activities Students can learn about Japan by visiting selected tourist sights of cultural significance such as Mishima Shrine, and Hakone, as well as popular museums of educational significance. Cost Program cost* Estimate for Meals** (Twin room with roommate) (paid by cash) 100,000(yen) 28,000(yen) * Includes airport transfers, class tuition, twin room with roommate, daily continental breakfast, and selected activities. Room is located at the new Toyoko Inn (Fujisan Mishima-eki) within 10 minutes walking distance from the campus and in front of Mishima station (North Shinkansen Entrance). This cost should be paid to the university. ** Estimate was made by 500 ¥ per meal, 14 meals per week for 4 weeks (continental breakfast is included in the program). Actual costs may vary. Students purchase meals and food on their own on or off campus Accommodation Students enjoy comfortable accomm odation at the new Toyoko Inn, located 1 minute walk from the north exit (Shinkansen exit) of JR Mishima Station. Each student will stay in a Twin room with another student as a roommate. Students have a choice for roommate or the roommate will be assigned for you. The following are examples of such activities: Places Description Trip to Hakone * Hakone, part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, is a popular sightseeing area where visitors can enjoy natural beauty, colorful flowers blooming throughout the year and scenic views including Mount Fuji, Lake Ashi and Owakudani. Note: (This tour will be on Friday and therefore the Japanese language class for that day will be cancelled.) Kakitagawa Park ** This park is famous for its beautiful greenery and crystal clear water rising from the earth. People also enjoy Japanese snacks and green tea at the tea house. Sano Art Museum ** The museum is known by the collection of Japanese sword and Japanese paintings. Also the Japanese garden nearby is beautiful to walk around. Rakujuen Park ** Enjoy a stroll in this beautiful park to see an ancient Japanese structure while also enjoying the animal zoo area. Mishima Taisha (Shrine) ** Mishima Shrine is one of the oldest and most prized Shinto Shrines in Japan. There are also many smaller shrines on location. Enjoy the Japanese style scenery and architecture. *This cost will be included in the program cost. **These places are located in walking distance near the campus. Actual cost will be free. In addition to the above, students have the option to join trips or tours to the following locations at additional costs: Tour of Tokyo, Trip to Kyoto, Trip to Nagoya, Odawara Castle, and Atami ( hot spring resort) Mishima (Shrine) Taisha Hakone Mishima city, Shizuoka Prefecture From Narita Airport, about 2.5 hours to Mishima by the JR "NARITA Express" train from Narita Airport to Tokyo and JR Bullet train (Tokaido Shinkansen). From Kansai Airport, about 4 hours to Mishima by the Kansai Airport Limited Express train Haruka from Kansai Airport to Shin-Osaka and JR Bullet train (Tokaido Shinkansen). The city of Mishima is located at the base of the Izu Peninsula in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture close to the entrance to the Fuji-Hakone National Park and the Izu Hot Spring District. The city, which is bounded to the north by Mount Fuji and to the east by Mount Hakone, is blessed by a wealth of superb natural beauty, and is famous for its many springs fed by subterranean water from Mount Fuji and Hakone area. The city is very convenient with many restaurants, bars, convenient stores, and other necessities and services.
