Also like the Otter Creek Hike, a short portion along the creek reveals the incredible power of heavy rain in a narrow gorge, with the remains of two entire houses strewn about the banks and along the trail. Watermarks on scarred trees 20’ up on the trunks show how high the water rose in 2018—not pretty, but instructive, and strangely fascinating. Noting a glade of young paw paw trees, we descend to Wilson Run and enter an unusually remote gorge on the Run, where we will have lunch at ~ 5.0 miles. These sections are littered with angular granite rocks, which protrude from the trail like an exposed earthly spine. The main trail starts at a woodsy Boyd Rd. parking area off PA 425 (Furnace Rd.), drops down to Wilson Run (2 crossings), into a deep gorge, then climbs steeply to the ridge. At three miles the trail drops sharply to Cuff’s Run, then climbs again to the ridge for a view of Turkey Hill wind turbines across the river. At 4.6 miles the trail descends to Greenbranch Rd. (gravel), which parallels the river for .4 mile, leaves the road and crosses Mahala Run on a
