Code- named "Urus," it will join the brand's existing two-model (Aventador/Huracan) lineup. Popular News Stories Jan Tegler It's a bold move for a company with a reputation built on iconic two-seaters including the Miura, Countach, and Diablo, and by its CEO's own admission the decision "will radically change 2016 Toyota Tacoma First Lamborghini." Why risk the company's exclusive, extroverted image on a vehicle associated with Drive [w/video] mundane tasks and parents who can't bear the thought of driving a minivan? Two reasons, says CEO Stephan Winkelmann. 1924 Isotta Fraschini Tipo "The SUV Segment is still fast growing worldwide," he notes. Indeed, global demand for SUVs is up 8A named Best In Show at 88 percent since 2008, making utility vehicles the fastest-growing segment around the world, Pebble Beach according to IHS Automotive. We learned together with our From Our Partners designers and product people that the SUV represented this opportunity the best." Structural implications include an expansion of the diminutive company's roughly 1,200-employee workforce by 50 percent, or 500 new hires, and the construction of a new facility near its headquarters to build the Urus. Building the new Lamborghini in Bologna is key to differentiating Urus from the other Volkswagen Group premium SUVs (Bentley Bentayga; Porsche Cayenne; Audi Q7 and Q8; and Volkswagen Touareg) that will 5 Most Striking The 10 Best Engines share the same platform, and Winkelmann put great effort into persuading VW the move made Classic Cars Ever for 2015 economic sense.

Story of the Alfa Romeo factory and plants: Part 1 The early Portello Factory Patrick Italiano Special thanks go to Karl Schnelle, Indianapolis, USA, for his patient proofreading and editing of the English version of this text Over the last few years, we have had to deal with large changes in Alfa Romeo-related places and buildings, as we witnessed the destruction of the old Portello factory, step by step in the late 80s, and also the de-commissioning of the much more modern Arese plant. Sad tales and silly pictures of places and people once full of pride in manufacturing the most spirited cars in the world. As reported by historians, it has long been – and still is for few – a source of pride to belong to this “workers aristocracy” at A.L.F.A.. Places recently destroyed to make place for concrete buildings now containing commercial centres or anonymous offices, places where our beloved cars were once designed, developed and built. It’s often a mix of curiosity and thrill to have the chance to look behind the scenes and see into the sanctuary. Back in 1987, when the first part of Portello was being torn down, Ben Hendricks took us on a visit to the Portello plant in Het Klaverblaadje #40. That was, as Jos Hugense coined the title 15 years later, the “beginning of the end”. Today, one can see Alfas running on the Fiat assembly lines along with Fiat Stilos and at best Lancia Thesis. These Fiat plants are no longer the places where distinguished and passionate brains try to anticipate technical trends five years into the future, thus ensuring that the new generation of Alfas keep such high company standards, as Ing.

Event Calendar | Shop Tickets | Visitor's Guide We're excited to unveil the posters for the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, as well as the Tour d'Elegance and RetroAuto. Ferrari celebrates its 70th Anniversary at Pebble Beach this year, so not one but two of our posters feature prancing horses. The third poster focuses on our prewar featured marque, Isotta Fraschini. Below we share the history of the magnificent automobiles that our talented artists have depicted. We thank Barry Rowe & Tim Layzell for their fantastic work. 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Poster Artist: Barry Rowe Car: 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring Barchetta Initial Sketch Poster Art Final Poster The 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance poster, painted by distinguished automotive artist Barry Rowe, portrays a car that is quintessentially Ferrari— offering the best of both road and race capabilities. Illustrated on the poster, a 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring Barchetta (chassis 0102 E) graces the competition field early one significant Sunday morning in August. The car’s first owner, Pietro Palmieri, raced it in the Giro Delle Calabrie and the Coppa Adriatica finishing first in class and a 2nd and 4th overall. It was later loaned to and raced by Bobby Baird, leading to another class win at the RAC’s famed Tourist Trophy race in Dundrod, Ireland. The Barchetta is perhaps mostknown for its appearance in the movie “The Racers,” produced by Twentieth CenturyFox in 1955 and starring Kirk Douglas. It is said that the movie’s producer, Henry Hathaway, approached Enzo Ferrari for the loan of some cars for the movie, but Enzo said “no.” Fox studios then approached Phil Hill, who helped to broker the sale of three Ferraris.
