The Murray Hill Neighborhood Association is grateful to all veterans and active members of the armed services for their service to our country and their sacrifices to protect our freedoms. Veterans Day November 11 11am - 3:30pm Parade & Veterans Day Parade & Opening Ceremony Opening [Expect street closures and effects on traffic.] Ceremony President Trump will appear at the Opening Ceremony in Madison Square Park. Opening Ceremony: The parade is preceded by an Opening Ceremony in Madison Square Park (24th Street & Fifth Avenue). The ceremony begins at 11am and begins with a moment of silence to commemorate the precise moment of the Armistice that ended World War I (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). The ceremony ends just before 12pm with the laying of wreaths at the Eternal Light monument. Limited seating is available at the opening ceremony, with preference given to disabled and elderly veterans. For more information about the Veterans Day Parade visit https://parade.uwvc.org. The parade will occur on Monday, November 11 (Veterans Day), rain or shine. The Parade will start at 12pm, at the conclusion of the Opening Ceremony, and concludes around 3:30pm. It will be immediately preceded by a youth tribute march that will start at 11:05am. Route: The parade goes north on Fifth Avenue, from 26th to 46th Street. Starting at approximately 10:30am, there will be NO CROSS-TOWN TRAFFIC ACROSS FIFTH AVENUE between 24th Street and approx. 50th Street. Street closures will begin at 8am, and will continue uptown until the entire parade route is closed. Formation areas for the parade will be from 24th Street to 28th Street between 6th & 5th Avenue. This funding is available to city funding info agencies, non-profit organizations, cultural institutions, and public schools for session for projects that enrich the community and city as a whole. As we do each year, my office is conducting information sessions to help schools and nonprofits manage the schools and ins and outs of the capital funding application process. Knowledgeable tour guides will focus on the unique architectural qualities of the buildings as well as the historic evolution of the neighborhood and its preservation as a residential oasis in Midtown Manhattan.
