VOLUME: XLXIII ISSUE: 2 March/April, 2019 The Tibetan Terrier Club of America Protecting and Advancing The Interests of the Tibetan Breed. Presidents Letter -March/April 2019 Table of Contents AND THE SURVEY SAID…. President’s Letter 1&2 A huge THANK YOU to all who completed the survey sent out Membership Matters earlier this year! It has provided us with some concrete ideas we 3 can address when it comes to holding future National Specialty. TTHWF We received a ton of data and currently are exploring ways to share these results with everyone in a simplified way. Most of the 4 people who responded had attended the 2018 National and 53% Journal/Yearbook Advertising Form noted their experiences were excellent, 45% felt it was average. 5 Our goal is to get more people attending and having a great time! The OFA The most attended activity, according to those who participated in the survey, was the Auction Dinner, with the Conformation, the 6 Annual Meeting and the Top 20 to follow in that order. As AKC Canine Health Grants President I was excited to see the stats on the attendance at the 7&8 Annual meeting. People also commented on the importance of this Meet the Breeds event, noting it is an “obligation” as a member of the Club, and I agree. When ranking the order of the events people consider the 9 most important to the TTCA, “Conformation, Sweeps & Futurity” AKC PAC was #!. Performance events were #2, Breeder Education #3, and 10 thru 13 with the Auction #4. It terms of it’s ranking, the Annual Meeting Touring the AKC Museum of the Dog was ranked last! It may not be one of the most fun parts of the National but it is one of the most important and it define us as an 14 AKC Parent Club. The annual meeting gets to highlight what we National Specialty have achieved and where are we going and offers a way to talk to 15 thru 23 our membership about upcoming projects, issues and concerns. TTCA Announcement SO, if you have concerns, recommendations or just some good ideas, please sent them to me to bring to the floor, or at least to the 24 Board meetings. The Annual Meeting is also to honor those winning special achievements, titles and awards and a time for All information and pictures for the next members to get a glimpse of what the next year’s National will be newsletter will be due to me June 10th. offering. So please plan on attending even if you never have in the past. The newsletter will be sent out June 28th. Elise Kind [email protected] !1 A few other interesting responses from the survey showed: - 67% feel we should have 2-4 pre-determined locations, leaving 33% who disagree. This is actually a very complex question put President into a very simple format, so in exploring what it could look like BETSY RICHARDS for us there is still much to look at. 36 Nichter Road Lancaster, NY 14086 - most responses indicated that having the events at the Host Hotel [email protected] works best. - It is no surprise that the main reasons for NOT attending the 1st Vice President National are cost and distance to the site. KAREN TROMBLEE - People expressed a desire to offer more for the pet owner 1941 East View Drive Sun City Center, FLA 33573 population and those doing performance. As you can see from [email protected] this year’s venue the TTCA is really trying to provide more for the pet TT owners, just look at the upcoming Jamboree. In 2020 and 2nd Vice President thereafter we will try to provide more performance activities by SHERYL GETMAN linking with clubs that also have added performance activities to 21848 Mt Highway35 Bigfork, MT 59911 their venue.
