Xianghua's Bio by Stylistic86 Xianghua's Bio by Stylistic86 Chai Xianghua "Lotus of Her Country" Country of Origin: China Fighting Style: Wushu Birthday: April 2 Age: 20 Height: 5'5" Weight: 121 lbs Blood Type: B Occupation: Chinese Military Soldier Hobby: Sword Dance, Basketball Likes: Kilik, her friend Meimei, Christie Monteiro helping others Dislikes: Mean spirited people, Working against her will, Ling Xiaoyu, Heihachi Mishima 1P Outfit: Soul Calibur IV 1P Outfit (No Jacket is optional) 2P Outfit: Soul Calibur III 1P Outfit (Alternate colors white and purple) 3P Outfit: Soul Calibur III 2P Outfit (Alternate color blue with no stockings) 4P Outfit: Salsa dress with pink at the top and arm warmers and teal at the bottom Bio: Chai Xianghua was born into the one of the most prestigious military families in all of China. She upheld the family tradition, enlisting into the Chinese Military. It did help Xianghua a little that she was upholding her family's honor but it also didn't help that her superiors were not as fond of her as she would've thought after failing tests and drills. By this time, Xianghua's superiors brought in a high ranking general to be her handler. It was also around the same time that she had met Kilik, who had been training soldiers in the art of Wushu. She had found herself falling in love with Kilik, despite her handler's warnings. One day, she attended a demonstration that Kilik was holding when he had accidentally killed someone. Shocked by what they saw, the soldiers informed their superiors about the incident. Xianghua, however, was not afraid of Kilik, and instead of having him arrested, she helped him flee the country. Before she could ever reveal her true feelings, Kilik was already gone. Days soon passed after the incident but there was a growing suspicion as to why Xianghua did not help her fellow soldiers. It was later revealed that she had actually helped him escape and did not report the incident to her superior. Furious at this, the superiors held Xianghua in contempt of helping a murderer escape. Fearing the possibility of indictment or execution, Xianghua went to her handler for help. At first, Xianghua's handler seemed to have the same contempt for Xianghua as he showed disdain for her helping such a man who murdered a private in cold blood, even by accident but he managed to strike a deal with the superiors. The ordeal would be blown over if Xianghua was assigned to work for the Mishima Zaibatsu in Japan. With Xianghua now assigned by the military to work for the Mishima Zaibatsu, she felt distant and alone until she met Christie Monteiro and Ling Xiaoyu, who she wouldd work with under Heihachi Mishima. The three were given invitations to enter the Warrior of the Iron Soul tournament but under the condition that they work for Heihachi Mishima. With no other choice, Xianghua agreed in hopes the incident blew over. Stage: Beijing (Day) Theme Music: Hubris (From SCII) Rivals: Stage 4 Rival/Stage: Yun-Seong/Seoul (Day) or Christie Monteiro/Rio De Janeiro Against Yun-Seong: Yun-Seong comes across Xianghua and starts hitting on her, to which Xianghua feels nauseated and annoyed. When Yun-Seong is about make a move, Xianghua knocks his hand away and gets in her stance. Yun-Seong then says "Feeling Froggy, are we?"and gets into his fighting stance. After she defeats Yun-Seong, Xianghua bends down, placing her hands on her knees, looking at Yun-Seong telling him "that if he didn't annoy her so much, he would've had a chance". Yun-Seong then says "Really?" but Xianghua shoves his head down on the ground and walks away. Against Christie: Xianghua is sitting on the beach, wandering how her things for her have gotten worse when Christie shows up. Xianghua and Christie have a friendly conversation until Christie challenges her to a sparring match. Xianghua agrees, as she says that "it would take some stress off her." After defeating Christie, Christie tells Xianghua that the reason she joined the Mishima Zaibatsu was to find a man named Eddy with help from an officer named Lei Wulong, and that she doesn't like working there. After hearing the revelation that Christie despises the Mishima Zaibatsu, Xianghua expresses her disdain as well. The two become friends afterwards and go their separate ways. Stage 7 Rival/Stage: Kilik/India or Ling Xiaoyu/Beijing (Night) Against Kilik: Kilik runs into Xianghua and calls out to her. Xianghua doesn't respond at first and Kilik grows concerned. Xianghua, holding a Mishima Zaibatsu talk phone, addresses somebody that she has Kilik in her sights. She is then told to eliminate him. It has revealed that Xianghua is now working for the Mishima Zaibatsu and that Kilik must defeat her in order to save her, to which Xianghua says "Sorry, Kilik but I have no choice". After Xianghua defeats Kilik, Xianghua tells Kilik that he should not have come back, to which Kilik tells her that it was all an accident and that he wishes none of this ever happened. He also tells Xianghua that he's glad that she has surpassed him as a fighter and doesn't see her as an inferior. Xianghua then says that she will find some way to make things right for them. Against Xiaoyu: Xianghua is growing tired of having to work for the Mishima Zaibatsu and is talking to herself about leaving, when Xiaoyu meets up with her. Xiaoyu asks Xianghua what's wrong, causing Xianghua to leave her train of thought and blurt out the possibility of leaving the Mishima Zaibatsu. Xiaoyu hears this and warns Xianghua not to leave. Xianghua tells Xiaoyu that she will leave, even if it means going through her. After she defeats Xiaoyu, Xianghua tells Xiaoyu that she plans on leaving the Mishima Zaibatsu once and for all. Sub-Boss (Stage 9): Heihachi Mishima/The Honmaru Xianghua arrives at the Honmaru and asks Heihachi about wanting to see her. Heihachi faces Xianghua and asks her about leaving the Mishima Zaibatsu. Xianghua looks shocked at first but then it is revealed that Xiaoyu had told Heihachi and not only that, Heihachi knew about her helping Kilik escape after accidentally killing a soldier, to which it is revealed that Heihachi beaten Kilik, who is laying in a far left corner of the Honmaru. Xianghua gritted her teeth, balled her fists, and got in her fighting stance to which Heihachi says "That fighting style is useless!" After Xianghua defeats Heihachi, she tells him that she is quitting the Mishima Zaibatsu and that she will stop him no matter what. Final Stage: Jinpachi Mishima/Final Stage Xianghua is wandering through a desolate land when Jinpachi speaks to her. She turns around, faces Jinpachi as he transforms from his human form into his devil form. Ending: After defeating Jinpachi, Xianghua finds herself back in Mishima Zaibatsu headquarters, where a raid is taking place. Xianghua tries to fight her way out of the melee but is feeling faint. As she is about to slip into unconsciousness, she is saved by Kilik and Christie, who tells Kilik to get Xianghua to safety. Kilik does so before destroying the brainwashing laboratory and making his escape. After Kilik escapes with Xianghua, she opens her eyes and sees Kilik, who is looking back at the Mishima Zaibatsu as a chunk of the building explodes before fleeing. Xianghua asks and Kilik mentions Brazil as the screen fades. .

She had been trying to convince people that Jin was not an international criminal committing war crimes against several nations but many people chose to ignore her defensive case. Desperate and running out of leads, Xiaoyu turned to Heihachi Mishima, who had restored the Mishima Zaibatsu back to its original state. Xiaoyu couldn't tell Heihachi that she was looking for Jin but she was willing to help Heihachi any way she could. Doing so, Heihachi paired Xiaoyu with Chai Xianghua, a Chinese soldier who was sent on assignment to cover up an incident, and Christie Monteiro, who was not only looking for Eddy Gordo but also secretly working with Lei Wulong as a private investigator. While it seemed as though Xiaoyu was eager to work for Heihachi and was willing to do whatever he commanded, Xianghua and Christie were not as eager as her, which raised suspicion within Xiaoyu and started to question her partners' motives.

What needed to solve this issue was to create a malevolent brand of super soldier, one that would turn the tide of battle in the Mishima Zaibatsu's favor. Project Astaroth or simply ASTAROTH, would be the Mishima Zaibatsu's secret weapon but once the war was over, the project was abandoned, and the Mishima Zaibatsu was now back in the hands of Heihachi Mishima. Two years had passed, and Heihachi had discovered footage and blueprints for Project Astaroth. Heihachi sent many of his scientists to continue working on the project, as it would be later used for demonstration in Okinawa before putting it to good use as the future Tekken Force soldier and would be champion of the Warrior of the Iron Soul Tournament. To Heihachi, he saw the super soldier as a means to silence his enemies but to the super soldier itself, only destruction, domination, and lamentation would only follow in its path.

Playing Nice: The Limitations and Stereotypes Placed on Female Hero Representation in Video Games. Master of Arts (Radio, Television, and Film), May 2014, 133 pp., 22 figures, bibliography, 50 titles. This thesis provides an investigation of how gender stereotypes affect the narrative, mechanics, and experience of three different console based video games (Venetica, WET, and Velvet Assassin) with female protagonist. Each game is addressed within separate case study chapters and discusses how gender is integrated and intertwined with each narrative structure, image representation, and interactivity. Further analysis is provided in each case study as gender is addressed across several parts of each game, beginning with the female protagonist’s role as hero, her representation throughout the game (i.e. body image, attire, and weapons), and the game play experience. In conclusion, this thesis shows that the protagonist gender within a video game does affect the game in its entirety.
