Lesbian and Gay Music
Revista Eletrônica de Musicologia Volume VII – Dezembro de 2002 Lesbian and Gay Music by Philip Brett and Elizabeth Wood the unexpurgated full-length original of the New Grove II article, edited by Carlos Palombini A record, in both historical documentation and biographical reclamation, of the struggles and sensi- bilities of homosexual people of the West that came out in their music, and of the [undoubted but unacknowledged] contribution of homosexual men and women to the music profession. In broader terms, a special perspective from which Western music of all kinds can be heard and critiqued. I. INTRODUCTION TO THE ORIGINAL VERSION 1 II. (HOMO)SEXUALIT Y AND MUSICALIT Y 2 III. INTRODUCTION TO THE ORIGINAL VERSION 1 What Grove printed under ‘Gay and Lesbian Music’ was not entirely what we intended, from the title on. Since we were allotted only two 2500 words and wrote almost five times as much, we inevitably expected cuts. These came not as we feared in the more theoretical sections, but in certain other tar- geted areas: names, popular music, and the role of women. Though some living musicians were allowed in, all those thought to be uncomfortable about their sexual orientation’s being known were excised, beginning with Boulez. -

The year before I had listened with excitement to the launch of our local commercial station, Liverpool's Radio City, and wanted to find out what other stations I might be able to pick up. In those days the Guide covered TV as well as radio, which could only manage to fill two pages – but then there were only 19 “ILR” stations. -
Working with Others to Restore Wilder Landscapes
Working with others to restore Wilder landscapes Annual Report of the Wilder Landscapes Project April 2019 – March 2020 F Southgate 0 Contents Introduction 2 Summary of Project Achievements 2019 - 2020 3 Our Work Advising Landowners 4 Catchment & Landscape Scale Work 7 Policy Work & Strategic Advice 19 Linking People and Landscapes 20 Our Volunteers 26 Finance and Fundraising 27 Appendix 30 1 Introduction Sussex Wildlife Trust’s (SWT) Wilder Landscapes project supports local communities to restore wildlife-rich landscapes and the essential natural services that we all need for health and wellbeing. We help to deliver Nature Recover Networks, Natural Flood Management, Climate resilience and Wilding as well as caring for Sussex Wildlife Trust Nature Reserves, and supporting a multitude of other landowners, stakeholders and projects across Sussex. Our Wilder Landscapes projects have been delivering landscape scale conservation for over 19 years. We have also been running an innovative Natural Flood Management project, Sussex Flow Initiative, for over 8 years. With Climate change and biodiversity loss two of the biggest natural crises that we have faced in recorded history, now is the time to take as much positive and practical action that we can. Neither people, nor wildlife can survive without the essential services that our countryside provides including water purification, flood storage, carbon storage, food provision, access to nature health benefits, pollination services and more. We focus on creating community, climate and nature resilience through adaptation, collaboration and innovation. This year we have achieved some fantastic things with the help of local communities and our project partners. We have given wildlife advice on over 22,000 acres of land, for at least 84 unique landowners, and easily reached at least 2,000,000 people through our joint events, media and partnership working. -

She had been trying to convince people that Jin was not an international criminal committing war crimes against several nations but many people chose to ignore her defensive case. Desperate and running out of leads, Xiaoyu turned to Heihachi Mishima, who had restored the Mishima Zaibatsu back to its original state. Xiaoyu couldn't tell Heihachi that she was looking for Jin but she was willing to help Heihachi any way she could. Doing so, Heihachi paired Xiaoyu with Chai Xianghua, a Chinese soldier who was sent on assignment to cover up an incident, and Christie Monteiro, who was not only looking for Eddy Gordo but also secretly working with Lei Wulong as a private investigator. While it seemed as though Xiaoyu was eager to work for Heihachi and was willing to do whatever he commanded, Xianghua and Christie were not as eager as her, which raised suspicion within Xiaoyu and started to question her partners' motives. -

INFORMATION TO USERS This material was produced from a microfilm copy of the original document. While the most advanced technological means to photograph and reproduce this document have been used, the quality is heavily dependent upon the quality of the original submitted. The following explanation of techniques is provided to help you understand markings or patterns which may appear on this reproduction. 1. The sign or "target" for pages apparently lacking from the document photographed is "Missing Page(s)". If it was possible to obtain the missing page(s) or section, they are spliced into the film along with adjacent pages. This may have necessitated cutting thru an image and duplicating adjacent pages to insure you complete continuity. 2. When an image on the film is obliterated with a large round black mark, it is an indication that the photographer suspected that the copy may have moved during exposure and thus cause a blurred image. You will find ja good image of the page in the adjacent frame. 3. When a map, drawing or chart, etc., was part of the material being photographed the photographer followed a definite method in "sectioning" the material. It is customary to begin photoing at the upper left hand corner of a large sheet and to continue photoing from left to right in equal sections with a small overlap. If necessary, sectioning is continued again — beginning below the first row and continuing on until complete. 4. The majority of users indicate that the textual content is of greatest value, however, a somewhat higher quality reproduction could be made from "photographs" if essential to the understanding of the dissertation. -
Lgbtq Slang and Its Evolution Over Time. a Censored Outcast in Subtitling?
LGBTQ SLANG AND ITS EVOLUTION OVER TIME. A CENSORED OUTCAST IN SUBTITLING? La jerga LGBTQ y su evolución a lo largo del tiempo. ¿Un marginado cen- surado en la subtitulación? Mª Victoria MESONERO UNED [email protected] ABSTRACT: Lavender lexicon is not a widely concept in the academic world. In order to contribute to this, the present work analyses gay jargon as a specialized language due to its secrecy and purpose. Having its roots in Polari, we have illustrated the development of the gay language by considering popular series from the 90s until 2018: Sex and the city, Queer as folk, RuPaul’s Drag Race and Pose. Most modern series’ subtitles showed as few cases of censorship as in Austin Powers’ trilogy, where the heterosexual slang prevails. However, it did not happen the same the previous years. It has also been exaggerated in some cases, something that affects the LGBTQ community negatively. Apart from of- fering a view of the concept of subtitling, we also defined the translation techniques needed when dealing with taboo and swear words and how the offensive load can be transferred. Keywords: gay; slang; audio-visual; subtitling; censorship; Polari. 1. COMING OUT THE CLOSET: GAY SLANG Nowadays, gay slang or language of the closet seems to be one of the greatest outcasts in the aca- demic world, particularly in disciplines as Philology or Translation Studies. Rodriguez González (2010, 3) remarked that “lots of publications addressed the gay issue from different fields as Psychology, Soci- ology, Literature, Religion… Nevertheless, there is not any detailed study/register about its lexicon”. -
Astaroth's Bio by Stylistic86
Astaroth's Bio by Stylistic86 Astaroth "Macabre Giant" Country of Origin: Iran (created from wounded or dead Tekken Force soldiers) Fighting Style: Power Fighting Birthday: September 3 Age: 7 (since being created) Blood Type: Blood of many dead Tekken Force soldiers Height: 7'2" Weight: 400 lbs Occupation: Mass Produced Super Soldier Likes: Mishima Zaibatsu, Destruction Dislikes: G Corporation, Maxi 1P Outfit: Soul Calibur IV 1P 2P Outfit: Soul Calibur II 1P 3P Outfit: Soul Calibur II 3P 4P Outfit: Mecha Astaroth Bio: During the war between the Mishima Zaibatsu and G-Corporation, the Mishima Zaibatsu, under Jin Kazama, was losing and couldn't afford any more casualties. What needed to solve this issue was to create a malevolent brand of super soldier, one that would turn the tide of battle in the Mishima Zaibatsu's favor. Project Astaroth or simply ASTAROTH, would be the Mishima Zaibatsu's secret weapon but once the war was over, the project was abandoned, and the Mishima Zaibatsu was now back in the hands of Heihachi Mishima. Two years had passed, and Heihachi had discovered footage and blueprints for Project Astaroth. Heihachi sent many of his scientists to continue working on the project, as it would be later used for demonstration in Okinawa before putting it to good use as the future Tekken Force soldier and would be champion of the Warrior of the Iron Soul Tournament. To Heihachi, he saw the super soldier as a means to silence his enemies but to the super soldier itself, only destruction, domination, and lamentation would only follow in its path. -
