All HS students interested in ordering a school ring need to get their form in by November 9th. Excel Scholastics will be at Peak to Peak during lunch. 6. All juniors continue to meet with their counselor, Ms. Gannett, each Thursday for college planning during their study hall. They have a one page check list of everything they need to do between now and January. Some of them are still short on arts or PE credits for graduation and need to make sure they sign up for these classes for next year. Remember, at this point any D’s or F’s may result in not graduating on time! Each junior is now in the process of beginning drafts of ten possible colleges they are interested in. Families can help by encouraging their children to research colleges at home. 7. Colleges continue to come to Peak to Peak each week. All 9th and 10th graders should sign up for at least one of these presentations and juniors should sign up for at least three. 8. Reminder: the first quarter is now complete, and students only have eight weeks left until the end of the first semester. First semester grades count towards graduation credits, and the semester must be made up in summer school or the following year if the student receives a D or F in the class. 9. Seniors: Continue completing applications to colleges/universities. All students should apply to at least one college by November 1st--December 1st at the latest. 10. Community Service reminder: in order to graduate all high school students need to complete the following numbers of hours:

Class of 2005= 60 hours by spring break 2005 Class of 2006= 80 hours by spring break 2006 Class of 2007 and beyond= 100 hours by spring break of senior year

The intent of this program is for the students to give back to their community in positive ways. Colleges are looking for students who have a passion and follow through with this passion. Example: some of our students are passionate about animals and are volunteering at human societies. Project YES will be coming to HS access groups in the next two weeks to talk to all HS students about volunteering for them. More information on this topic will be in the next College Newsletter. All high school students must complete the community service form and turn this completed form into the Counseling Center to be recorded. These forms are available in the counseling center and on our college planning website at www. peaktopeak.org.

Scholarship Information: Mary Johnson, parent, and Jonda Dramann, counseling assistant, are assembling additional scholarship information weekly for our students. Students and parents are welcome to come in to check into the ones currently on file or go to our website for general scholarships links.

MS Students: 1. Access update: Peer mediators from the High School visited individual access groups over the last two weeks to talk to the 7th and 8th graders about the peer mediation program and conflict resolution skills. Next week Officer Stogner will follow up with a program on how to prevent bullying. Beginning December 1st all middle school students will be working on a holiday basket drive during access. 2. Beginning the week after Thanksgiving, Middle School support groups will meet for study skills, stress reduction, and friendship skills. Many students signed up to participate in these groups. A letter requesting parent permission to participate in the groups was sent home with students. If your child signed up and you would like him/her to participate, please return the form by Nov. 12th to the counseling center, or call Kimberly Gannett at 303- 453-4715 with any questions. Dear K-5 Parents…

Please note the following date change for February 23rd: Early dismissal @ 1:25 for teacher in-service.

Elementary parent/teacher conferences will remain on February 9th & 10th, as stated on the 2004-05 elementary calendar. Although we considered moving them to align with secondary conferences, it was decided that this was not a workable idea. Thank you for your support of the original plan and for attending these very important conferences with your child’s teacher.

This program offers us a wonderful opportunity to acquire items needed for the school at no cost to us! All we have to do is save labels and UPCs from the Eligible Products list below and send them in to the school. Students may deposit them in the folders marked “Campbell’s Labels”, which are located on the bulletin boards on the first floor in both the North and South buildings.

We are already receiving requests from the staff for items they would like to have. Everything from glue and markers for Art, to balls and pedometers for physical education, to classroom and teaching supplies, and even a camcorder that Mr. Fontana would like to have for the teachers to use. The camcorder alone is 31,000 labels. However, if everyone participates, our label count will go up quickly. Please take advantage of any offers you see to earn bonus labels for the school. Sometimes you will even get bonus certificates printed out on grocery receipts. These certificates should be dropped off at the school with the other labels.

Tell your family and friends about the program and ask them to save labels as well. Every label counts. Actually, some count even more than others. Please be aware of bonus labels for this school year. As you look at the Eligible Products list you will notice some items have an asterisk after them. These are the bonus labels. The soup items with an asterisk are worth 5 labels each and the V8 items with an asterisk are worth 2 labels each.

If you have any questions please contact Margery Yetman at 303-665-4060.
