Before deciding to attend Alfred University, Amanda Brosgole stayed active on art pieces that she could summit for her college portfolio. Arriving as a freshman, she didn’t know what to expect or how she would feel majoring in such a field full of creativity with a big workload, so she then further prepared herself by staying busy with her art during her summer break. Amanda worked on a self-portrait that took her about 5 hours to finish. She used colored pencils and sketched herself out from simply looking in a mirror. This piece was inspired because other people would constantly ask her to draw portraits of them, so she was interested in creating a portrait of herself as well. “I never really did work for myself.
