Noisy Nights Expected From Nanaimo Terminal Upgrade Some Nanaimo residents who live near the Departure Bay ferry terminal may want to get earplugs to wear to bed. Construction may be noisy during the night from the shore infill project that will allow for a new ticketing building for walk-on passengers. The overall plan will expand the terminal compound and alleviate traffic congestion at peak times on local streets in front of the terminal. However, the shore infill project involves 4.00% placing rock in the foreshore next to the existing foot passenger ticketing building and walkway to make space for the new structure.
