It is with great pride that the MIE2009 conference Jacob Hofdijk, PhD, takes place in the year of the 60th anniversary of the University of President of the European Sarajevo. The character of Bosnia & Herzegovina is best illustrated by the fact that during the siege the education and research at the Federation for Medical university went on unbroken. It is an honor and privilege to have Informatics the MIE2009 conference organized by Prof Izet Masic, the token within EFMI of this brave country.

D’altra parte anche lo studioso del fenomeno ar- chitettonico, in genere poco incline ad avventurarsi tra le insidie delle categorie succitate, non può non ravvisare, nel caso in oggetto, la sussistenza di analogie con fenomeni che hanno interessato, in fasi e momenti diversi, tutta la storia della cultura europea e percorrono, con bruciante attualità eventi del quotidiano . Il tòpos della “ ricerca delle origini ” del gruppo etno-linguistico di appartenenza accompagna, sin dall’alba delle civiltà, il processo di transizione dei popoli dalla comunità tradizionale all’istituzione statuale . Il mondo epico narrato è nel con - tempo creazione della fantasia popolare e sede delle proiezioni collettive: la for - mazione di una autocoscienza collettiva tende a collocare le sorti individuali in un evento magico e leggendario che diviene destino comune . Ecco allora la necessità di identificare in ben preciso gruppo familiare e tribale i caratteri che li indichino come “necessità della storia” e ne legittimino il ruolo a guida e rife - rimento dell’intero gruppo etnico. Diverso è il caso delle “rinascenze nazionali” che hanno caratterizzato l’epoca moderna, spesso preludio di drammatici rivolgimenti socio-politici: qui è la massa – nella forza primigenia ed anonima della propria individuazione etnico- razziale – a svolgere un ruolo determinante.
