Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act - 8195

Thank you for your email dated 22 March 2018 requesting information about NHS services for residents of Minster-on-Sea. Please find below your original request and our response:

Original request: 1. The number of people from Minster-on-Sea [, ME12] who used the NHS service at Memorial Hospital and Sheppey Community Hospital during the past year. The total number of people from Minster-on-Sea who used Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust’s (the Trust’s) NHS services at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital and Sheppey Community Hospital during the last 12 months (March 2017 to February 2018) is 4,159.

2. The number of people from the who used the NHS service at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital and Sheppey Community Hospital during the past year. The total number of people from the Isle of Sheppey (including Minster) who used the Trust’s NHS services at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital and Sheppey Community Hospital during the last 12 months (March 2017 to February 2018) is 9,179.

3. A breakdown on what those services were in respect of Nos.1 and 2. The information below details the number of people from Minster-on-Sea who used the Trust’s services during the last 12 months (March 2017 to February 2018) at Sheppey Community Hospital and Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital:  Minor Injuries Unit at Sheppey Community Hospital - 2,993  Physiotherapy services at Sheppey Community Hospital- 810  Minor Injuries Unit at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital – 339  Physiotherapy services at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital – 17

The information below details the number of people from the Isle of Sheppey (including Minster) who used the Trust’s services during the last 12 months (March 2017 to February 2018) at Sheppey Community Hospital and Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital:  Minor Injuries Unit at Sheppey Community Hospital – 6,670  Physiotherapy services at Sheppey Community Hospital- 1,603  Minor Injuries Unit at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital – 872  Physiotherapy services at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital – 34

4. A breakdown on the ages of the people concerned in respect of Nos. 1 and 2. A breakdown by age ranges of the number of people from the Isle of Sheppey who used the Trust’s services at Sheppey Community Hospital and Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital as outlined in questions 1 and 2 is attached as Appendix A.

5. Information on the numbers of people requesting hospital transport in respect of Nos. 1 and 2. Patient Transport is a service provided by G4S on behalf of the NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across Kent and . It is designed to support patients if their medical or physical condition means they cannot drive themselves to and from their NHS appointment.

The contract for this service was convened by the CCGs, therefore Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust does not hold the information you have requested. Your request should be redirected to the CCGs who will hold the relevant information. I attach as Appendix B the names and contact details for the CCGs operating across Kent and Medway.

It may be useful to also understand that there are other NHS services located at both Sheppey Community Hospital and Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital which are not run by Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. The community hospital services are provided by Virgin Healthcare and all the outpatients and x-ray services are provided by Medway NHS Foundation Trust and and Wells NHS Trust. There is also a GP surgery at Sheppey Community Hospital. Therefore you may also wish to direct your request to the CCGs, Medway NHS Foundation Trust and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
