Working with other local agencies, staff members and volunteers provide families in need with a safe environment and the means to re-establish their independence. All guests are welcomed as Christ with no discrimination.
We believe that families who are able to remain together while homeless have a much better chance of rebuilding their lives after the trauma of losing their home. Once stabilized with the necessities of food, clothing, and safe shelter, our goal is to identify the root causes and conditions of homelessness of the individual family. Through our network of volunteer professionals and supportive agencies, we bring all available resources to bear on these core issues.
The DDHH is funded by private donations from individuals. Donors give annually, as needed for projects, or on a monthly-basis. Each gift, of any amount, is important to the sustainability of the ministry. As an organization, we have a strong sense of responsibility to each donor that his/her gift is used to help families who are truly working to re-gain their independence.

It is with deep gratitude that we present the 2014 Annual Report from the Dorothy Day House of Hospitality. In these pages we are gratefully acknowledging the hundreds of people who have played a part in keeping this ministry to homeless families alive and well. Our thanks goes to each one for your generosity to us!
As we look back at 2014 and the blessings and graces it contained, we are also looking forward to the years ahead and the opportunities that are before us. We know that we have an important ministry in this city, and with your help, we can make the Dorothy Day House even more vibrant and growing.
Each person whose name is included in this report has helped build on the original dream of the Dorothy Day House. You have played a part in laying a strong foundation over the past nine and one-half years and have enabled us to plan for the future with courage and high hope.
In 2011, the DDHH Board of Directors created a strategic plan which includes the goal of serving 20 families at a time by 2022. Audacious? Yes! Possible? Yes! It is possible only with your help and with the help of supporters of all ages. Today, in 2015, we feel that we are moving closer and closer to that amazing goal.
So, today we want to thank you for the help you have already given. We know that we could not have come this far without the thousands of people who have stepped forward and embraced ministry to homeless families. At the same time, we want to encourage you to join us on the journey into an amazing future.
Of course we can’t leap from caring for three families at a time to taking care of twenty families at a time....we will grow step-by-step, with great care to preserve our values and the uniqueness of our ministry. Our Board of Directors, our Ministry Team and our staff are “on board” and willing to help make the dream happen. They have all contributed financially and have generously shared their time and talent, as well.
We need your ongoing support if the dream for 2022 is going to be realized. Our primary needs remain the same: we need your prayers, we need publicity and we need money. Each of those components will play a major role in our growth.
We ask that you prayerfully consider how you can increase your commitment to the Dorothy Day House in the coming year. It will take all of us to make the dream come true!

Mon day Night Meals We have always felt that it is important for the families living in the Dorothy Day House to know that there are many, many people who care about them and who want to help them. One of the ways we communicate this to our families is through the Monday night meals. Volunteers bring dinner enough to serve everyone living in the House at the time. Some volunteers stay and share the meal and some drop it off ready to eat. Each week, all families have the opportunity to meet some of the hundreds of people who believe in them and hope with them for a better future.

This fund raising project grows each year, and this year we will once again offer direct shipping so that non-local supporters can order holiday decorations and have them sent to their home.
