THE PORSCHE MACAN TURBO The ultimate and most potent Macan in the range The Turbo boasts 400 hp, and the ability to reach 62 mph from rest in under five seconds Powered by a twin-turbo, 3,604 cc, water-cooled V6 engine delivering 400 hp at 6,000 rpm and 550 Nm of torque between 1,350 and 4,500 rpm Capable of accelerating from rest to 62 mph in just 4.8 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 165 mph; achieves 30.7-31.7 mpg on the combined cycle, and emits 208-216 g/km of CO2 (range of figures due to different wheel-tyre choice) On sale now, priced from £62,540 The Macan Turbo is the ultimate expression of the Macan idea, offering the kind of performance that until recently was the preserve of a high-end sports car, both in acceleration and handling, but combined in the practical and versatile SUV package A strong yet lightweight monocoque structure forms an ideal basis for the high performance character of the Macan Turbo. A low centre of gravity is particularly beneficial in enabling dynamic handling, and has been achieved by the intelligent use of different metals: for example, the bonnet and tailgate are made from aluminium. The front end of the Turbo features more aggressive styling, while areas such as the distinctive side ‘blades’ and lower area of the tailgate number plate surround are colour-coded on the Turbo. The quad exhaust outlets are square in section The Macan Turbo uses largely the same multi-link suspension, front and rear, as the other Macans in the range. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system is fitted as standard, putting the car 15mm closer to the road, and offers three settings - Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. In addition, Porsche air suspension is available as an option: this includes height adjustment and self-levelling of the vehicle, and works in conjunction with the PASM system The Macan Turbo uses a larger version of the twin-turbocharged, water-cooled V6 engine that powers the Macan ‘S’ and ‘GTS’ models, with a displacement increased by over half a litre to 3,604 cc. The engine features continuous intake camshaft and valve-lift adjustment (VarioRam Plus), as well as direct petrol injection for the best possible power and economy. The result is a peak power output of 400 hp at 6,000 rpm and 550 Nm of torque between 1,350 and 4,500 rpm The only transmission available for the Macan Turbo is the Porsche twin-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox (PDK), with manual control of gearshifts via the gear selector or paddles fixed behind the steering wheel. The engine’s output is delivered to all four wheels via Porsche Traction Management (PTM), an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch: drive is sent first to the rear wheels, with the torque split to the front axle decided by both road conditions and driving style. An off-road button on the centre console switches all the relevant systems to a traction-orientated mode, while a Sport button encourages more dynamic road driving The Macan Turbo is capable of completing the zero to 62 mph sprint in just 4.8 seconds, before reaching a maximum speed of 165 mph. Despite this potent performance, it still achieves 30.7-31.7 mpg on the combined cycle, and emits just 208-216 g/km of CO2 (range of figures due to different wheel-tyre choice) The braking setup for the Macan Turbo is the most powerful available in the range. It features 360mm vented discs on the front axle, and 330mm on the rear axle, teamed with aluminium monobloc calipers of six-piston and four-piston type, front and rear. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are available as an option The lower silhouette of the Macan helps it cut through the air more efficiently than a typical SUV, and with a flat underbody and active radiator shutters also optimising airflow the coefficient of drag is just 0.36 The sporty design of the Macan Turbo interior is an ideal place from which to enjoy its stunning performance. Adaptive sports seats with memory function are fitted as standard, as is the leather package and the Alcantara roof lining Porsche Cars in Great Britain Porsche Cars Great Britain Limited (PCGB) is the sole UK and Ireland importer of Porsche cars and is wholly owned by Porsche AG in Stuttgart. PCGB is the fourth largest subsidiary in the global Porsche network, with a total of 36 Porsche Centres serving customers in Britain and Ireland. For the first time in the history of Porsche AG, the company handed over more than 200,000 sports cars to customers around the world. (ENDS) .
