A bou t the N o r f o l k Cham b e r C o nsor t e Norfolk Chamber Consort welcomes music lovers to its forty-ninth season which explores complex interpersonal relationships among major music gures. In recent years, it has become a tradition to open the season with an event featuring a major Baroque gure and/or subject. is year, it is Handel and his competitors, one of whom nearly cut his life and career short with a strike of a sword, from which George Frederick was saved by a button on his coat. e season continues with the renowned Jasper String Quartet which will be joined by Andrey Kasparov and Oksana Lutsyshyn in the Piano Quintets by Schumann and Shostakovich. In the next program, NCC will respond to the centennial of Leonard Bernstein's birth by featuring selections from his oft-neglected chamber works, as well as works by from his rich artistic inner circle including Virgil omson, Aaron Copland and Paul Bowles. e season will conclude with a concert entitled "Teacher and His Two Students." is program – consisting of works by the Russian Anton Arensky and his two most illustrious students, Alexander Scriabin and Sergei Rachmanino – will explore the often complex interrelationships among these starkly dierent personalities.

Andrey Kasparov and Oksana Lutsyshyn are both on top of the notes and inside the music; the rhythmic complexities and tricky tutti attacks don’t faze their ensemble synchronicity one iota…. – Gramophone

He (Kevin Bobo) combined classical with classic rock, all with a spoken machine-gun delivery—oh, it was brilliant, and denitely fun! – From the Other Side of the Footlights with M.D. Ridge, WHRO
