Warsaw – City of Woman +48 22 492 08 99 [email protected] Warsaw - City of Woman Who runs the world? Girls, of course! And it's not uncommon to find some female traces in the capital city of Poland. Let's start your day with an urban tour in the footsteps of prominent local heroines. Check the places inthe Old Town and the Royal Route dedicated to the most famous noblewoman, actress, scandalous woman, and feminists. It will be a kind of journey in time – we will wake up the ghosts of the places where our city's great woman worked and created. But this is only the beginning of your adventure – visit Polish Vodka Museum in the afternoon and experience more during a brief workshop with alcoholic cocktails or homemade tinctures . Learn new recipes that will surprise your friends and become the star of every party! Duration: 5 hours Availability: everyday Departures from: Warsaw Price per person The tour is available only to adults (over 18 years old). As it's a walking tour, we advise you to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Groups with more than 7 persons - confirmed upon request. PRICING No. of people 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 PRICE 149 EUR 86 EUR 65 EUR 57 EUR 50 EUR 45 EUR 42 EUR INCLUDED IN PRICE NOT INCLUDED IN PRICE • sightseeing of Warsaw with private, English-speaking guide (3 • coffee and cake after the city tour hours) • additional entrance tickets to Polish Vodka Museum • transfer from the city centre to Praga district • visit in Zabinski villa • entrance tickets to vodka workshop in English (please refer to the tour description and choose one of the option available) • VAT and other taxes Your day will begin with the city walking tour with the best local, English-speaking guide. After the short introduction, you will head to the Old Town to check the places related to the most influential Polish women, like Maria Sklodowska-Curie. She was the first woman (and so far the only one!) to be twice honored with the Nobel Prize. The only museum in the world devoted entirely to this amazing scientist is located on Freta Street, in the tenement house where she was born. During this 3-hour sightseeing tour you will also find out some stories about the Mermaid of Warsaw – PAGE 1 OF 2 +48 22 492 08 99 [email protected] the symbol of Warsaw. Later you will visit the city’s smallest estate, Mariensztat, and see the part of Powisle district where the house of Pola Negri, the star of the silent movies, was stood. The next stop will be a stroll along the Royal Route – let us, just for a while, feel like princesses sheltering themselves from the sun under white parasols and look for traces of the women of the past. After this exciting trip, a cup of aromatic coffee with a delicious cake will be the right choice! After the sweet break, we will cross to the other side of the Vistula river, to Praga district, where the Polish Vodka Museum is located. There you will start the most outstanding experience ever – a vodka workshop! You have one option to choose: Polish Vodka Cocktails A cocktail preparation course where you will learn the secrets of preparing unique drinks from original and often surprising ingredients known to us all. But what is theory without practice? At the end of the workshop, you will have the possibility to prepare and taste your own cocktails. Polish Vodka Homemade Infusions Here we will deal with stories about home-made tinctures based on Polish vodka. Interesting, slightly spicy anecdotes will be incomplete without a decent dose of practical knowledge combined with a good tasting of different flavors. At the end of the workshop, you will receive an additional recipe for a home-made tincture with a set of spices as a gift. The museum specialists will conduct both workshops, which will be at your disposal to answer all your questions. Good mood and creativity are welcome! As an extra service, we can organize a guided tour to the Polish vodka factory and/or visit the Zabinski villa, known from The Zookeeper’s Wife movie. PAGE 2 OF 2 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Every Year Around the International Museum
Ladies and gentlemen, Every year around the International Museum Day on 18th May, a specific spectacle takes place in numerous cities in Poland and throughout Europe, initiated modestly by museums exactly. In the beginning, it aimed to promote those institutions, alter the ambiance associated with museums as places where one walks around wearing house slippers and talks in a quiet voice. The Long Night of Museums has shown just how extraordinarily interesting collections owned by these institutions can be, and how originally they may be presented. Others started to envy the success – not in terms of the turnout, but creativity and the ability to get across to the public with the seemingly difficult message behind the high culture. Due to being active in fields not associated with culture, state administration, courts, temples of various faiths, schools, services, and many, many more, wanted their share in this success. They used their chance superbly. This is the Long Night of Museums cultivated by Warsaw for over a decade now. A modest event with participation of 11 museums evolved into an enormous, logistically developed happening encompassing Warsaw and its surroundings. Every institution participating in the project wants to present itself in an original, unique way. They encourage viewers-guests to come by preparing special exhibitions and presentations, on show for this one night only. They open their doors, despite remaining diligently guarded on a daily basis. They think up programmes for children. And the experience is a really big thing for the youngest ones as well, because oftentimes they stay in the city with their parents until midnight.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen! When 13 Years Ago Warsaw Began Its Adventure with the Long Night of Museums, 11 Venues Took Part in the Event – All of Them Museums
Ladies and Gentlemen! When 13 years ago Warsaw began its adventure with the Long Night of Museums, 11 venues took part in the event – all of them museums. This year, more than 250 institutions invite visitors. Despite this multitude and diversity, the Long Night of Museums has not lost its basic and founding character – popularizing museum collections. On this year’s Long Night of Museums, on 14th May, 52 museums will be open. They are the main axis of this cultural event, during which visitors may watch permanent exhibitions or showcases prepared specially for this occasion. The idea to allow venues unrelated with culture to participate in the Long Night of Museums was born in 2009 and has received very positive feedback from visitors. However, statistics shows that it is museums that nighttime guests visit the most. Indeed, attendance records reaching 10 or 15 thousand visitors during one evening are held by Warsaw-based museums. I heartily invite you to the Long Night of Museums 2016. This year, one more time, there will be plenty of attractions and specially prepared events waiting for visitors. The guidebook will allow you to learn more about them. See you on 14th May! Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz Mayor of Warsaw 25 Zespół Stacji Filtrów 32 Teatr Powszechny — ŚRÓDMIEŚCIE Williama Lindleya im. I hope you all had the opportunity to bring those new insights into practice during last year and feel ready for Ecsite’s 22nd Annual Conference. This year we are moving more to the east. The Annual Confer- ence 2011 is hosted in Warsaw, Poland, in the recently opened and impressive Copernicus Science Centre. This new institution will give the Polish people the freedom to explore the connec- tions between science, the humanities and art. Freedom is the theme of the 2011 Annual Conference. Freedom is what we all consider to be one of the most important assets in our lives: freedom to choose, freedom of speech, freedom to ac- cess knowledge and freedom to engage with other people. This is what we strive to offer our visitors every day. We must, however, accept that there is often no ultimate freedom. We are responsible for our world and the constraints and limita- tions it puts on our freedom. A more integrated view of freedom hans gubbels and morality can enhance our understanding; moral mecha- nisms have a clear social function that science can help us to president of ecsite, understand and improve. • Dear Varsovians, This Year’S Long Night of Museums Will Be Already the 12Th Edition of This Extraordinary Celebration of Culture, Art and Science in the Capital City
Dear Varsovians, This year’s Long Night of Museums will be already the 12th edition of this extraordinary celebration of culture, art and science in the Capital City. The form of this event has not changed since the very beginning: invariably, over the course of several nighttime hours, various institutions and venues wish to present the most interesting aspects of their activity, and Varsovians invariably visit them in great numbers. This year, there are 237 museums, galleries, studios, foundations, schools, embassies, state institutions and many, many others awaiting guests. Each of them attracts visitors with an interesting programme, available in many cases on this one night exclusively. Traditionally, there will be special bus lines created, transporting Varsovians and tourists from one venue to another. I wish to encourage you to make use of Veturilo bicycles as well. I invite you to get acquainted with this guidebook, which will help you make your own sightseeing plans.
