Most recently, in 2009, Beyoncé sang the song for the inauguration of Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States.

NOTES TO THE CONDUCTOR

“At Last” should be approached in a slow and sultry manner with a light eighth note swing. The style will be further emphasized with the use of a drumset using brushes. The piano accompaniment should be a prominent part of the performance, but never overbearing. And as always, feel free to adjust the dynamics to ensure proper melodic balance within the ensemble.

*Percussion note: My intent is that drumset will be used in the rehearsal and performance of this . If a suitable instrument is not available, feel free to use separate instruments—snare drum, bass drum, ride cymbals, and two toms. NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

All Belwin string parts have been carefully bowed and fingered appropriately by level. The Yellow Very Beginning series includes many bowings as well as reminder fingerings forfirst-time readers. The Red Beginning series includes frequent bowings to assist younger players. Fingerings for altered pitches are often marked. The Green Intermediate series includes appropriately placed bowings for middle-level students. Fingerings and positions are marked for notes beyond first position. The Blue Concert series includes bowings appropriate for the experienced high school player. Fingerings and position markings are indicated for difficult passages.
