Instead of traditional Japanese characters, ro¯maji represents Japanese using the Latin alphabet, thereby simplifying this complex language and making it more readily accessible to English speakers. It is an efficient way to learn to speak Japanese without requiring the years of study needed to master the written language. There is only one accent mark used in the Hepburn romanization system. It appears over the letters O and U (o¯ and u¯) and indicates a long vowel sound. CD 1 you later. Mata ato de aimasho¯. • See you tomorrow. Mata ashita aimasho¯. • Where are Track 1 you from (fam)?
