The following were the broad thematic areas that emphasised on enhancing the quality of education through the IQAC:

• 16th Oct, 2017: College organised one day inter college seminar on the topic “Eco Friendly

Diwali”, to Educate Students and to promote Eco friendly services in the surroundings. • 4th Dec, 2017: College organised One-Day Seminar on the topic “Patriotism and Nation

Building” under the theme “Ak Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” was organised in the college

campus. Three winners represented the college at Distt level to ensure youth mass participation. • 16th Feb, 2018: Inter college symposium on the topic “Early childhood Care and Education” was organised in the college premises with an objective to develop understanding among teacher trainees and the faculty members about the role of ICDS in Early Childhood Care and

Development.

• 8th March, 2018: College organised a seminar cum awareness camp on International Women Day in collaboration with the department of Distt. Legal service authority on women rights and violence against women.

& Challenges” in the National Seminar organized by P.G Department of Education,

University of Jammu.

d) 24th March, 2018: Ms. Jyoti Sharma and Ms. Satuti Sharma faculty of the College

attended one day workshop on “RCEM & Herbartian Approach” at Kalra College of

Education Udhampur.

e) 25th May, 2018: All the faculty members along with the Principal of the College attended

one day workshop on “Soft Skills, Psychological Needs of College Students &

*Please provide an analysis of the feedback in the Annexure ✓ Class Committee Meetings are conducted once every semester to review the academic programme. The Class Committee consists of six student representatives, Principal and IQAC coordinator. These meetings are important forums where students give their feedback on course content, teaching

The feedback and suggestions given at the CCMs are recorded by the Deans of Academic Affairs and the Vice Principals who lead and direct the CCMs. The feedback and suggestions are discussed and reviewed by the faculty and remedial measures taken if required. The feedback is also used during subsequent revision of syllabi, to improve the teaching-learning evaluation process, infrastructure, resources and facilities, to ensure the effective implementation of academic and administrative processes and to streamline Student Training Programmes. In addition to formal feedback, individual faculty members also obtain informal feedback from students, consider them and use them for improving their performance. The Principal also discuss the general comments during the general staff meetings and specific problems are addressed with individual faculty members. Parents are encouraged to give feedback to the college. During the, Annual Academic Council meeting and the IQAC Advisory meetings, members evaluate existing curricula and discuss ways of improving students’ academic experience and performance. The members of the Governing Body examine the results of the various programmes and suggest ways to improve student learning outcomes. Feedback is also obtained from the alumnae at the annual alumni meet. 1.4 Whether there is any revision/update of regulation or syllabi, if yes, mention their salient aspects. The syllabus prescribed by University of Jammu is followed. The curriculum was reconstructed in 2015.hence only minor changes were made in unit one of semester-I course no.101 (Education in Indian perspective)

2.6 Innovative processes adopted by the institution in Teaching and Learning:

Best Practice I: BETTI BACHAO BETI PADHAO College has endorsed the PM vision of BBBP by organizing awareness programmes in slum areas, presenting Nuked Natak in public places .The wing is dedicated to deliver quality education, the college leaves no stone unturn in facilitating its girl’s students in specific .The concept of mentorship where in the girls students is given special attention by the female faculty of the college.

Best Practice II: Heritage club (Hmari Dhrohar)

College took the initiative of setting up of heritage club (Hmari Dhrohar) in college with the

motive of creating awareness and participation in heritage related activities among the trainees

.Every student is motivated to participate in heritage conservation and to learn about their local

and natural heritage.

Best practice III: Hindi Language Lab. Keeping in view the requirement of innovative method of teaching and learning college has dedicated Hindi language lab. Exclusively for improving Hindi language communication with an objective of practising four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Best practice IV: Discovery Learning New kinds of learning are always implemented by our institution. Discovery learning is a kind of learning that is based on the students finding things out for themselves .Looking into problem and asking questions it will be used in terms of answering tricky and controversial questions generally discussing things.

We follow the syllabus set by University of Jammu. Informally all teachers are participating in the process. Feedback from course teachers and interaction with students in the respective classrooms contribute to incorporating ideas, current trends makes the teaching learning more meaningful. 1. 4th Sept -6th Sept, 2017 College participation at Dist. Volleyball Championship The College Volleyball Team in Girls Category was lauded by all on winning the District Volleyball Championship Organized by District Volleyball Association Udhampur.

2. 23rd Sept, 2017: Cleanliness Drive The B.Ed trainees undertook a cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat cleanliness campaign launched by honorable PM, Sh. Narender Modi. The college organized awareness campaign at adopted village Nagrota. The students from middle school Nagrota were also taken along with the B.Ed trainees for drive. They took a pledge to clean their school, homes, public places and surroundings.

3. 26th Sept, 2017 In Mime Competition In Display Your Talent Sonakshi, Cheena, Shekha, Sunali, Manvi And Reena From 1st SEM represented the college by their participation in mime competition on the theme “Women Education” at University of Jammu. The Team Bagged Consolation Prize For Their Creativity On Burning Topic. 4. 27th Sept, 2017 participation in Display Your Talent Students of the College participated In Skit on The Theme Backbone, Poetry Recitation on the Topic- Feminism, Rangoli and Poster Making Competition.

5. 28th Sept, 2017 wall painting competition: Students of Bhartiya College of Education participated in wall painting competition on the theme “EK KADAM SWACHHTA KI AUR” organized by district administration Udhampur. 6. Anganwadi Centre Visit On 5th & 6th Oct, 2017: A Visit to Anganwadi centre was organized by the College under the School Internship programme. In Groups, Pupil Teachers Visited The Anganwadi Centre At Udhampur Running Under ICDS Project. Trainees Observed Health Status of The Children, Nursing Mothers, Feeding Mothers and Condition of Anganwari Centres.

7. 28th Oct, 2017 Slum Area Visit The trainees of the college visited Dubduba Basti and Birma Pul Slum area as part of their sessional work. All trainees actively participated to aware the people of slum regarding Health Hygiene, Literacy and Cleanliness. Nukked Natak was also presented by B.Ed Students on the theme Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao.

8. 31st Oct, 2017 ISKCON Gurukul Visit The College Organized a Visit To ISKCON Gurukul and Residential School at Udhampur to collect information regarding the different methods of teaching, the Guru Shishya relationship and learning environment of Gurukul system.

9. 6th Nov, 2017 Madarassa Visit The Students of SEM-I Visited Madarassa, At Jojda Talab, Udhampur as part of their Sessional Activity. The objective of the visit was to familiarize the student with the regarding teaching- learning strategies of Madarassa education.

10. 10th Nov, 2017 Plantation Drive NSS Unit in collaboration with ECO Club organized plantation drive in the college campus in which NSS volunteers planted 15 saplings.

11. 18th Nov, 2017 Heritage Week Celebration: World Heritage Week was inaugurated at Bhartiya College Of Education in collaboration with INTACH Jammu Chapter which comprised of cultural Jhankis by various groups of students. Dogra cultural stall exhibited “Rutt Rahre” And ‘Bachh Doa”, Rakheidey”, “Bahu Mela” and ethnic food items. All the students whole heartily participated to great success of the event. 13. 3rd Dec, 2017 DIET Kud Visit B.Ed Trainees of Sem 1st Visited DIET Kud Udhampur as a part of their school internship and observed 7 wings of DIET.

14. 4th December 2017, District Level Declamation Contest A District Level Declamation contest on the topic “Patriotism and Nation Building” Under the theme “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra. The three winners Sumit, Sonakshi, Shilpa represented the college at District level to ensure mass youth participation.

15. 5th – 7Th Dec, 2017 Special School Visit The Pupil Teachers of The College From SEM -IST Visited Special School (Asha School) Northern Command, Udhampur Under Sessional Work Activity. The Key Purpose of the visit was to disseminate information among the students with various learning difficulties, special needs of the learners, provisions of education for special learner and special teaching strategies to educate learner with learning difficulties During the visit, trainees interacted with students (special learner). Dr. Kumkum Bhardwaj Principal Asha School guided the trainees and helped them to fulfill their key purpose of the visit.

16. 6th Dec, 2017: Blood Donation Camp NSS wing of the college organized blood donation camp in collaboration with dist. hospital Udhampur sponsored by HDFC bank. The college students participated enthusiastically in the event. 23 volunteers from the college and faculty members donated blood. The students of college also raised slogans to bring awareness about blood donation.

“Every Blood Donor is a Life Saver.” 17. 13th Dec, 2017 Municipality Visit Bhartiya College of Education Organized a Visit to Municipal Council, Udhampur as Sessional work for B.Ed Sem-III. The purpose of the visit was to observe the functioning of Municipal Council. The CEO of Municipal Council Sh Santosh Kotwal addressed the students and familiarized them with the functioning of the council.

18. 22nd Dec, 2017 College Participation in Governor Silver Rolling Trophy A Team Of 12 Students (Girls) Participated in “Inter Collegiate Annual Governor Silver Rolling Trophy ” in Volleyball Tournament at Govt Degree College Boys Udhampur.

19. 24th January 2018 Dangal Makeover The Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao has got a Dangal makeover in Jammu and Kashmir. The first ever exclusive Women Day Long Dangal event was held at Udhampur with an objective to prove that our girls can excel in every field. Dangal is the best way to show-case of their talent. On this event college student named Kanu Priya Session (2015-17) received special prize from Sh. Ravinder Kumar IAS. District Development Commissioner for her academic excellence at the University Level and Rani Devi Session (2015-17) for her splendid performance by singing dogri folk songs in many events organized by District Administration Udhampur and At University Level.

20. 27th Jan, 2018: Pulse polio Campaign Volunteers from NSS Unit of The College Conducted a Rally On Pulse Polio Campaign. The volunteers Visited Village Thanda Paddar, interacted with the villagers and brought awareness in the general public about the importance of Polio Drops for healthy living.

21. 6th-7th Feb, 2018 College Participation at “LOK RANG MAHATOSAVA” – College participated in all the events of Lok Rang Mahatosava and overall rolling trophy was awarded to college at University of Jammu in the presence of Director College Development council and DSW. In Group Folk Song, boys of the College were awarded appreciation certificates. Mulk Raj Singh Secured 3rd prize in solo folk song. Dancing is a perpendicular expression of a horizontal desire –lines by George Bernard Shaw and proved by our girls. In folkdance competition college girls secured first position by showcasing their fantastic performance.

22. 16th Feb, 2018: Symposium on “Early Childhood Care and Education” Inter College Symposium on the Topic “Early Childhood Care and Education” in Collaboration with ICDS Project Udhampur was Organized by the College. The Chief Guests on this Event were Project officer ICDS Mrs. Rimpi Ohri (KAS) and Sh. Yash Paul Sharma CDPO Udhampur. The main objective of the symposium was to develop understanding among teacher trainees and all faculty members about the role of ICDS in Early childhood care and development. Sixteen participants from Govt. Degree College for Boys Udhampur, Govt. College for Women Udhampur, Govt. Degree College Ramnagar, Shivalik College of Education, Kalra College of Education Udhampur, Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur & Bhaskar Institute of Paramedical Sciences participated in seminar which clearly reflected the Role of ICDS in Early Childcare. The Participants Vandana Mehra, Akhtar Hussian and Parul Oberoi Bagged first, second and third prize respectively. Students of host College also presented thought provoking skit on the theme.

23. 26th Feb, 2018 State Institute of Education Visit Trainees of SEM-II visited State Institute of Education Jammu Under School Internship program. It is an apex institute that looks over teacher training, pedagogy, methodology, planning and management of education department. Trainees visited different wings of SIE and observed their working.

24. 8th March, 2018: International Women’s Day The College Organized Awareness Camp on International Women’s Day in Collaboration with the department of District Legal Services Authorities, on “Women Rights and Violence against Women”, in the college campus. Mrs. Anjana Rajpoot, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Mr. Ajay Kumar, Dist. Judicial Mobile Magistrate Traffic Were the Resource Person on the Occasions.

25. 22nd March, 2018: World Water Day: NSS unit of the college conducted door to door campaign on world water day to focus attention of the masses on the importance of fresh water and to advocate for the sustainable management of fresh water resources. The NSS volunteers disseminated awareness among the villagers of adopted village Nagrota about the conservation of water resources.

26. 23rd -24th March, 2018 Intersection Badminton Tournament An Intra Section Two Days Badminton Tournament was organized In the College. At least 42 Students from different sections participated with full energy and excitement.

27. 27TH & 28TH MARCH, 2018 VISIT TO INNOVATIVE CENTRE UDHAMPUR: As a part of their school internship students visited Devika Institute of Skill Development under “PRADHAN MANTRI KAUSHAL VIKAS YOJANA” centre in Udhampur where they observed the different types of skill learned by the students.

28. 29TH MARCH, 2018 B.ED SEM-II STUDENTS ON THEIR FIELD VISIT TO JK MEDIA CENTER UDHAMPUR: Trainees from college visited JK Media Center Udhampur in order to observe how language can be transmitted.

29. 5th April, 2018: Workshop Cum Exhibition On Audio-Visual Aids: an intra-college workshop cum exhibition on audio-visual aids was organized at the college campus. The objective of the event was to acquaint pupil teachers with the necessary skills to improvise and fabricate audio-visual aids and to familiarize students about the importance of audio-visual aids in teaching learning process. The Chairperson and the Principal of the College Visited Exhibition and appreciated the efforts of the Students.

30. 18th May, 2018: College celebrated World Museum Day Heritage Club of the college in collaboration with Department of Achieves, Archaeology and INTACH Jammu Chapter celebrated World Museum Day, 2018 in the College Campus to mark the international Museum Day. Sh. Ravinder Kumar (IAS) DDC Udhampur was the chief Guest on the occasion. This program was to raise awareness among the common masses as well as young generation about their history and its legacy. The Event also witnessed an exhibition by handicraft department and other stake holder, where at artifacts including stone tools, fossils, utensils copper and bronze, rare books, jewelry, weapons, documents, coins of other countries etc. were showcased with detailed information.

31. 21st June, 2018 :International Yoga Day :

NSS unit of Bhartiya college of education organised a yoga workshop on 21st june 2018 to celebrate international yoga day. Mr Sunil Sharma from Art of living was the instructor. All members from college including teaching and non-teaching participated in yoga workshops.

6.3 Quality improvement strategies adopted by the institution for each of the following:

6.3.1 Curriculum Development

1. As prescribed by university of Jammu 2. The academic calendar prepared by university of Jammu is followed. There is limited academic

flexibility none the less the institution also prepares its own Academic and Activity calendar.

Different stages in the process to ensure effective implementation of the curriculum are as follows:

(a) Stage I: Based on the expertise of individual teachers, the syllabus is distributed for the academic session in the staff meeting which is held towards the end of the academic session in the month of May.

Discussions are held on the methodologies on the basis of paper allotted to teachers by the Head of the institution that can be followed to orient new teachers in particular on different approaches to the curriculum.

(b) Stage II: The time table committee prepares a draft time-table to check the feasibility of delivering the allotted curriculum by calculating the number of lectures available in a particular term.

(c) Stage III: Teachers are then required to submit a teaching plan based on the number of days required for effective teaching of the syllabus, as also the examination Dept. gives the number of days required for conduct of examinations.

A “Teacher’s Diary” is issued by the IQAC and given to the teachers at the beginning of the academic year to help them plan and manage the teaching learning process effectively. The teacher’s diary contains the necessary information, circulars from the university regarding the academic term, the academic calendar, working and teaching days available for the B.Ed. programme.

At the end of every academic term, teachers are required to submit the diary to the IQAC after filling in the relevant information. This helps the IQAC to monitor if the teaching plans have been successfully implemented, and this is further verified and substantiated throughstudent feedback on

teachers.

6.3.2 Teaching and Learning

The college has put in place a system to effectively plan the teaching and learning processes. The focus of all the activities is the pupil teacher. Various strategies and mechanisms for pupil teacher centric learning are adopted by the teachers to cater to the diverse needs of students in the classroom.

Institutional Calendar

Preparation of the institutional calendar for the next academic year begins before the end of every academic year. A comprehensive institutional calendar is prepared by a committee comprising of the principal with the help of IQAC. This institutional calendar is communicated in advance to all the teachers.

A class-wise timetable is prepared for the next academic year by the time table committee towards the end of every academic year (i.e. in June) and distributed in advance to all the teachers

The Teaching plan is prepared by individual teachers, verified by the Head of the institution and then implemented.

Teachers’ Diary

Every teacher is given a diary before the commencement of the academic year. The contents of the diary are: Academic calendar, commencement and end dates of the term/semester, list of holidays, personal timetable, teaching plan, formats to indicate co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and record of leave.

The diary maintained by the teacher ensures compliance of the academic plans. These diaries are assessed daily by the Principal to ensure that the work assigned is completed on time every term.

A wide range of teaching/learning strategies such as collaborative/team teaching, integration of technology in the classroom, experiential and hands–on learning experiences, field visits, project work, internship, group discussion, seminar, peer Learning, paper presentations, term paper and project work.

The following activities augment learning outcomes:

The management makes appointments for the teaching positions through prescribed procedures set by University of Jammu. • Orientation programmes are organised for new faculty.

• Recreation programmes like picnics are also organised for teaching, non-teaching and supp ortive staff. • A well established HR team manages Human Resource of the College. It is responsible for the

members of the Management, external subject expert deputed by the University.

Candidates deemed suitable to meet the institutions requirements are appointed on probation for

one year. They are given a permanent position by the Management after assessment of their performance.
