Carried out extensive Helminthological and Limnological studies on Wular Lake, while working as a Research Fellow in a D.O. En. Sponsored Research Project on ―Fish Conservation in Wular Lake‖, which was successfully completed in 1990. Later, carried out studies on the Microbial and Helminth Parasites of Fishes of Wular lake with their Pathology and Seasonal incidence. In addition, Haematological Studies of some Helminth Infected Fishes of Wular Lake was also conducted. 2. Worked on Nowgam Wetland – Ecology, Management and Helminthology aspects. Studied the effect of various human and natural factors on the wetland and also the adverse effects of these changes on the fauna of this wetland. Three new species to Science were described and nine other species with new locality records were recorded. 3. Studied the Taxonomy and Histomorphology of Trematode and Cestode parasites infecting fresh water fish in Kashmir and prepared an up to date host-parasite list giving distribution of these parasites. 61 helminth species including nine new species and the rest being new locality/ host records were described. 4. Conducted Histo-pathological studies of Cestode Parasites infecting fresh water Fishes of Kashmir. The study being the first of its kind in the Valley. 5. Conducted studies on the Pathogenic Parasites of Fishes of River Jhelum, and their influence on the decline of the Indigenous Fish – Schizothorax. Worked on the Determinants of rich helminth parasitic communities in native fish species in comparison to poor helminth communities in exotic fish species from Jhelum. 6. Surveyed the Gastrointestinal Pathogenic Helminth Parasites in Ruminants of Kashmir valley, with detailed study on Histopathology, Immunology, Biochemical Pathology and Prophylaxis of Helminthiasis. 7. Studied the factors responsible for decline of native freshwater fish Schizothorax in Kashmir waters with special reference to Limnology, Pathology and Pollution. 8. Conducted Histopathological and Serological Studies of helminth infections in fishes of some lakes of Kashmir. Life Cycle and Electron Microscope Studies of some Helminth Fish Parasites of Kashmir Valley were conducted for the 1st time in valley. 9. Studied the Prevalence and Pathology of Gastro-intestinal Helminths in the Children of Kashmir 3 2019 CURRICULUM VITAE Valley, the risk factors and their effects on Nutritional Status of these Children. Possible preventive measures have been suggested and the recommendations formulated. On the basis of these observations, a book has been published and distributed free of cost among schools for the benefit of children. 10. Carried out study on the Epidemiology of GIT helminth parasites in small ruminants of Kashmir Valley alongwith their Control by Indigenous herbal Anthelmintics. In addition studied Histochemistry of Paramphistomes of Sheep and Cattle. Epidemiology of Dicrocoeliasis and Fascioliasis in Ruminants along with their Histopathology was also carried out. 11. Studied Protozoan and Nematode Parasites of some Economically important insects of Kashmir Valley 12. Conducted comparative study of prevalence of Cryptosporodiasis in Bovines and Humans in Kashmir for the first time in Kashmir. 13. Epidemiological and Hemato-Biochemical Studies of Gastrointestinal Helminth infection in the Children of Kashmir Valley 14. In present study, 21 species of cladocerans were recorded belonging to 5 families: Chydoridae, Daphnidae, Bosminidae, Macrothricidae and Sididae. Chydorids were responsible for major cladoceran diversity followed by daphnids. The frequently species found were Chydorus sphaericus, Graptoleberis testudinaria, Daphnia pulex, Ceriodaphnia reticulata and Bosmina longirostris. While comparing the cladoceran diversity of present study with earlier studies, many species present earlier were not found in present study due to increasing pollution of the lake. However, five species (Chydorus sphaericus, Graptoleberis testudinaria, Bosmina longirostris, Sida crystallina and Diaphanosoma brachyurum) recorded earlier were still present and were reported by all authors. This depicted that these species can tolerate wide range of fluctuations in environmental changes. Further, Daphnia pulex was not recorded in earlier studies but was recorded latter which also showed increased

As part of its natural heritage conservation program, INTACH Kashmir takes up restoration of springs around Manasbal Lake as a pilot. In the initial phase of restoration drive, 50 springs were restored around the lake. The life line of any community is water. In Kashmir, nature has bestowed with a rich resource of water in the form of lakes, rivers and above all springs. These springs were a perennial water source for local communities. Unfortunately most and a large number of these springs are facing extinction due to neglect which results water shortages in villages and at some places we have water refugees or climate migrants. The springs are critical part of our survival and needs to be preserved. Keeping in view the importance of preservation of these natural resources which is our natural heritage also, INTACH Kashmir initiated a drive to the springs around Manasbal lake which are on the verge of extinction. restore the springs. During the present study an attempt was made to analyse some of the important physico-chemical parameters of the water samples at three different sites of the Manasbal Lake to check the pollution load. Various parameters were analysed for a period of six months on monthly intervals by following standard methods. Among the various parameters recorded the overall Air temperature ranged from 7.2°C to 30.2°C; Surface water temperature ranged from 6.1°C to 26.5°C; Secchi-disc transparency from 1.5 m to 4.5m; Conductivity varied from 149 to 292 μScm-1; -1 -1 Dissolved oxygen from 2.4 to 8.8 mg L ; Free Co2 from 2.0 to 14.0 mg L ; pH from 8.1 to 9.2; Total Alkalinity varied from 126 to 243 mg L-1; Chloride values ranged from 5.9 to 33.5 mg L-1; Total Hardness ranged from 119 to 218 mg L-1; Ammonical Nitrogen varied from 27 to 193μg L-1; Nitrate Nitrogen varied from 31 to 286 μg L-1; Ortho-Phosphate Phosphorous varied from 4.3 to 33.0 μg L-1 and Phosphate Phosphorous ranged from 83.0 to 261 μg L-1.

O. — Abundance and distribution of nematodes of the genus Тrichuris Schrank, 1788 parasitizing domestic sheep (Ovis aries Linnaeus, 1758) were studied in Poltava, Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia Regions of Ukraine. Th ree species of Тrichuris were found, Trichuris skrjabini Baskakov, 1924, Trichuris оvis Abildgaard, 1795 and Trichuris globulosa Linstow, 1901. Trichuris оvis and T. skrjabini were more common (54.9 and 35.7 %), whereas Т. globulosa was relatively rare (9.4 %) in the studied material. New species-specifi c and sex-related morphological characters and metric indices were reviewed as useful in better identifi cation of T. skrjabini, Т. оvis and Т. globulosa parasitizing sheep.
