I was a sixth-grade student. I studied in the Old Town of Plovdiv, in the Armenian School. It was a place we used to visit with the greatest pleasure. Every day, after school, we used to walk in the old town. We were enchanted by the old Renaissance houses in Plovdiv – they are incredibly beautiful and interesting. There is a hill /tepe/, called Nebet Tepe with a lot of excavated ancient ruins; there are ruins from the 7-th century B.C. We used to sit among those ruins and talk – we talked about love, about our dreams. We were little children back then and everything was for us a big dream. T an So… what can I say ... there was a boy from school, a idge r friend of mine who often beat me, and I used to beat as him too, and that was how he showed me that he liked t b me. But it was actually bad for him because I used to pointed on tha beat him more often than he used to beat me. My e in this manner v s memory is related to the stars under Nebet Tepe, to be the walks in the Old Town and the dreams, the dreams may more than anything else. We used to dream of how we e bar C t k their lo M H would grow up and we wanted so badly that to e ar tha Y happen as fast as possible, so that we are adult so e lik Ther CM that we could work and study, and travel, and have en loc . v MY kids and families. And that time came so fast, so now y e CY … now we have only those memories … CMY I would like to tell you about a romantic omething K s memory I have from my youth when I met a y… the wing canal or person – I actually met the person with whom I o have been sharing the days of my life for 22 E years now – this is my husband. We met in the r ecchio er s and the V Plovdiv. Common friends of ours introduced us v to each other. I remember the first kiss he gave e bar me, which happened on Dragan Tsankov Street onte P when he was accompanying me on the way idge o home. Later on, we started a family together on e and now we have a wonderful 13-year-old lik boy who is very loving and dynamic and we ks on thos love him so much, and now we kiss him as well and we are very happy. So … I still cherish this memory because on that first date when we e…maybe place with the br K lik went out together, he gave me a traditional white-and-red lucky charm for 1st March as a t jus . gift. And just then – so very witty of him – with te this ps this gift he also gave me a kiss; I wasn’t ia expecting it but when I leaned and reached out my hand to take the lucky charm gift, he perha analogue – and people hang padloc took advantage of the moment, and that is I assoc how it happened, and this is a very romantic memory for me. So, now we have been together I for almost 22 years and we take care of our boy. We are still living in Plovdiv – it is a very romantic city – and here we were lucky to meet many pleasant and good people and they are all in love with the city of Plovdiv. S S.

    WHC Nomination Documentation File Name: 1033.pdf UNESCO Region: EUROPE AND THE NORTH AMERICA __________________________________________________________________________________________________ SITE NAME: Historic Centre of Vienna DATE OF INSCRIPTION: 16th December 2001 STATE PARTY: AUSTRIA CRITERIA: C (ii)(iv)(vi) DECISION OF THE WORLD HERITAGE COMMITTEE: Excerpt from the Report of the 25th Session of the World Heritage Committee The Committee inscribed the Historic Centre of Vienna on the World Heritage List under criteria (ii), (iv), and (vi): Criterion (ii): The urban and architectural qualities of the Historic Centre of Vienna bear outstanding witness to a continuing interchange of values throughout the second millennium. Criterion (iv): Three key periods of European cultural and political development - the Middle Ages, the Baroque period, and the Gründerzeit - are exceptionally well illustrated by the urban and architectural heritage of the Historic Centre of Vienna. Criterion (vi): Since the 16th century Vienna has been universally acknowledged to be the musical capital of Europe. While taking note of the efforts already made for the protection of the historic town of Vienna, the Committee recommended that the State Party undertake the necessary measures to review the height and volume of the proposed new development near the Stadtpark, east of the Ringstrasse, so as not to impair the visual integrity of the historic town. Furthermore, the Committee recommended that special attention be given to continuous monitoring and control of any changes to the morphology of the historic building stock. BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS Vienna developed from early Celtic and Roman settlements into a Medieval and Baroque city, the capital of the Austro- Hungarian Empire. It played an essential role as a leading European music centre, from the great age of Viennese Classicism through the early part of the 20th century.
