Cheers, Dan Gooday [email protected] ASHDOWN ACOUSTIC HEAD OF DOOM ORIGINAL COMBOS AAA-BT RM-EVO-II NEW @ NAMM 2018 - Ashdown Announces GEEZER BUTLER - HEAD OF DOOM BOOTH #5620 Ashdown supporters will know that there has been some speculation of a special new product in the making at Ashdown HQ for a couple of months. Thanks for the positive messages on Facebook, Bass Chat and Talk Bass, guys! A couple of your were spot on with your guessing! With Ashdown’s relationship with Geezer Butler being public knowledge since early 2016, prior to Black Sabbath’s ‘The End’ tour, many Ashdown and GZR fans have been patiently waiting for a product to be announced. That announcement happened late last week, when the man himself, Geezer Butler posted out to his Facebook page, commenting: “This amp is the closest I have found to emulate the old school sound I had in the 70s with its punch & clarity, it has the sound of DOOM I love.” Both Geezer Butler and Ashdown are extremely excited to introduce the Ashdown ‘Head of Doom’, a 600 Watt Signature Bass Amp Head. Hand built in the UK and designed around Geezer Butler’s very requirements. The Ashdown/Geezer relationship has been a huge high for Ashdown’s Founder and Managing Director, Mark Gooday. “What a moment for me personally. Having grown up playing Sabbath with a band in school and learning all the bass lines with my mate Phil, who could play any guitar lick back after hearing it once (the b*****d!). Geezer’s sound and tone was part of my bass upbringing and has stayed with me until this very day. Geezer has used our Drop Head 30 Valve combo for practice and home use for a number of years, so after discussion of building a gig-ready rig, we naturally began by building all valve amps… however we quickly learned that Geezer wanted to achieve a sound that was a little different to this. Geezer uses a complex combination of amp and cabinet arrangements depending on the gig, so it was a nice challenge for our technical team to overcome, with the backing and support from Geezer’ s tech Terry Welty. My son, Dan spent a lot of time with Geezer and Terry to make the project a success and I’m thrilled with the outcome. That dark look and styling, great sound and twin VU meters - nice work, Dan! All designed and hand-built in the UK. This is what we can do as a small family business and sets up apart from others.” The Head of Doom is for bass players who seek classic, driven bass tones with phenomenal power. The HOD will be shipping globally end of November 2017. We also have the honour of Geezer Butler coming to the show for the launch. Geezer will be at the Ashdown Booth (#5620) on Friday 25th January at 2pm. Come by to meet the legend... !!FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!! WWW.ASHDOWNMUSIC.COM NEW @ NAMM 2018 - Ashdown Extends OriginAL Range with Duo of Offset Kick-Back Combos BOOTH #5620 Launched in January 2017, Ashdown’s OriginAL head, took Ashdown back to the origin of their Tone in a lightweight, portable and stripped back package. From the moment you plug in, The OriginAL head captures everything that makes a great bass amp. Now, a year after its launch, Ashdown are pleased to announce the expansion of The OriginAL range, which will now include two compact, 300-watt kick-back bass combos – the OriginAL C112-300 (1 x 12”) and the OriginAL C210-300 (2 x 10”). Both the C112 and C210 are constructed with a useful ‘kick-back’ design, which can be positioned on stage or in the studio to provide enhanced sound direction to the bass player and thus, better clarity. Also making the OrginAL combos stand out from the crowd is their offset head design, which allows room for the neighbouring high-frequency tweeter – a clever use of space AND cool to look at. It maybe a sign of the times, but one simply cannot ignore that “compact” and “lightweight” are two key amplifier requirements of the modern bass player. Weighting in at a tiny 12.5kg and 14.5kg, Ashdown’s OriginAL combos tick all of the boxes. The OriginAL combos are finished with high quality and durable carpet covering which offers a traditional look and feel. Meanwhile, protecting the speakers is a heavy duty steel hexagonal punched grille cover, designed to withstand the rigours of the road. To the right side of each combo is a single metal bar handle to allow for ease of transportation. Lastly, purposefully placed feet on two under-sides of the cabinet allows for two stage placement options. Each OriginAL combo is loaded with Ashdown Whiteline speakers, proven to deliver Ashdown’s signature bass tone, with clarity and transparency that cuts through. Ashdown’s OriginAL C210 provides full power to its internal 10 –inch speakers. Meanwhile, the C112 has the flexibility of adding an additional 8-ohm Ashdown extension speaker cabinet to achieve maximum power. Signature VU Meter Starting from the top, a passive/active switch determines the whether the amp is being used with a high or low output instrument and sets a clear signal path to the input control. From here, the player can fine- tune their input level using Ashdown’s trademark VU meter, which takes pride of place at the very centre of the amp head. Simple yet Powerful EQ With the signal at its optimal level, you then hit a defined set of features designed enhance your tone. The OriginAL features a tried and tested 5-band EQ, controlling your traditional bass, middle and treble with a lo-mid and hi-mid sitting comfortably either side of the variable middle control. The additional Shape control further sculpts your tone, lifting the frequencies that really count – like a smiley face on a graphic equalizer. Tonally Connected The output control regulates the output volume of the amp and wrapping up the features on the front panel is an easy to reach DI output, as well as an independent FX send and return, which allows the amp to set a very clear signal path with no interruptions. Also, to the rear of amplifier is a headphone out to allow for silent practice. Ready for the Road Offered with a 5 year warranty, OriginAL combos come complete with auto protect voltage for global touring musicians and an adaptive temperature controlled fan for road and studio use. ! NOT FOR PUBLIC - EMBARGO 25TH JAN 2018 ! WWW.ASHDOWNMUSIC.COM NEW @ NAMM 2018 - Ashdown Advances AAA line with a 12” Bluetooth Combo BOOTH #5620 Over recent years, the demands of the modern bass players have changed. As much as everyone would love to gig with two 8x10’s and two 1200 watt heads… sadly, practicality sometimes gets in the way. It isn’t uncommon to see bass players on the Tube (or Metro) with a bass on their back and a sensibly sized amp being wheeled on a trolley. However, practical and sensible amplifiers can sometimes come at a compromise to the sound and feature-set. Ashdown’s AAA EVO Range offers a collection of lightweight and portable amplifiers without having to bargain on the tone. New for 2018 and further revolutionising the portable bass amp market, The Ashdown AAA EVO 100-BT is a lightweight, feature packed 100-watt bass amp combo, which delivers a non- compromised and powerful bass sound via a single 15” custom speaker. Best yet, the 100-BT is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to stream your music to the amplifier. The high quality audio playback of your MP3s through the 100-BT will redefine what you come to expect from a portable and cost effective bass amp. Setting the standard since 1997, Ashdown have once again raised the bar in the bass amplification market. Besides Bluetooth, the 100-BT features a fully loaded array of facilities including passive and active inputs, as well as a balanced DI output making it a fully gig-ready solution. The lightweight ply construction allows a weight of just 17kg/37lb, meaning back breaking load-ins are a thing of the past. The AAA EVO 100-BT features deep, foot switchable tube emulated overdrive for devastating distortion, as well as a 4 band EQ section with a sweepable mid control giving complete control over your tone. The addition of a Vintage/Modern Low push button changes the character of the low end for either a deep vintage feel or a more modern punchy low end. In a similar fashion, on the high end, the Vintage/Modern Highs push button adds or takes away high-end presence. On the rear of the combo, there is a Tweeter mute switch to reduce some of the top end and a speaker mute switch together with a headphone socket for silent practice. There is also an FX loop for use with either a line level device or an FX processor/pedal board. The 100-BT also has the option to add an 8-Ohm speaker cabinet for bigger gigs. The Apptek socket allows players to access the ever-growing range of amp simulators and effects on smartphones and mobile devices, including Ashdown’s very own ABM Pre Amp (available via Agile Partners Amp Kit).
