«FUORISALONE» - MILAN DESIGN WEEK MILAN, 09-14 APRIL 2019 2019 WHAT IS FUORISALONE • Fuorisalone is the set of events distributed in different areas of Milan on the same days when the Salone Internazionale del Mobile takes place, which is staged in the stands of Rho Fiera. • Every year, in April, Salone and Fuorisalone define the Milan Design Week, the most important event in the world for design. WHAT IS FUORISALONE MILAN DESIGN WEEK The Fuorisalone is not a Fair event, it doesn’t have a central organization nor managed by any Institution. It started spontaneously early in the 1980’s thanks to the will of companies working in the furnishing and industrial design sectors. WHERE FUORISALONE IS IN MILAN • Brera • 5 Vie • San Babila-Durini • Statale • Porta Venezia-San Gregorio • Tortona INHABITS - Milano Design City • It is the Milanese Fuorisalone event dedicated to design and architectre, located in the spaces between via Beltrami (former Expo Gate space), Piazza Castello and Piazza del Cannone ( Sempione Park), organized by DDN (Design Diffusion News magazine) • Focus on the way of living and inhabiting urban space: a village in the city where you can discover the elements that will change our way of living in the near future. An exhibition dedicated to house units, innovative, lightweight and self-sufficient living modules, based on design and architecture, including technology, alternative and innovative solutions for living in the home and for living in urban spaces. INHABITS Milano Design City • 10,000 square meters • 35 houses units • Over 400,000 curious and professionals visitors • Speech Arena with 30 talks involving 80 speakers • 50 DJs on the stage set up in Piazza Castello INTERNI Events • INTERNI is one of the most important architecture magazine in Italy, they also includes the creation and coordination of events and exhibitions, organized to encourage encounters between designers, producers and distributors and their specific roles. • 2019 will be focus on Human Spaces, that includes projects of places, environments, territories and contexts, and by extension services and objects whose central focus is a vision of personal wellbeing. INTERNI Events • 220.000 total visitors Università degli Studi di Milano • 80.000 total visitors Orto Botanico di Brera • 80.000 total visitors Audi City Lab - Corso Venezia 11 • 750 registered journalists TORTONA DISTRICT • It is an integrated communication project under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan, which aims to enhance events, installations and projects that take place in the Tortona’s area during the Fuorisalone. • Some of the brands that participated last year: Whirlpool, Sony Design, Napapijri, IQOS, Hyundai, andmany others TORTONA DISTRICT • About 300 exhibitors including companies, designers and other realities from all over the world • More than 80 locations throughout the Tortona District • More than 200.000 visitors SUPERSTUDIO PIU’ • An iconic place of design in Milan, the pioneer of the Fuorisalone phenomenon in the district, the most visited and sought-after place of the Tortona District since 2000. • It includes: themed projects, museum-like installations, national pavilions, solo or collective exhibitions, large consolidated companies but also young innovative companies, start-ups and independent authors. • 17.000 sq.mt exhibiting space,120.000 visitors, and over 2.000 registered journalists in 2018 alone BOVISA DISTRICT • Started in 2018, the Bovisa Design District is dedicated to innovation, technology and creativity. An interactive paths to discover the best of the technological production incubated and developed in the area through hundreds of exhibitors, events and ideas, thanks also to the presence of the University Politecnico di Milano BOVISA DISTRICT • In addition to the POLIMI Design System (by Politecnico di Milano), numerous subjects are involved and aggregated by Inbovisa, the local network that maps and puts together the most active and original realities of the territory. LAMBRATE DISTRICT • The Lambrate District, in the Northeast area of Milan, is an historical industrial part of the country; among the most important reality, a special mention goes to Innocenti that in the second half of the previous century, here produced thousands of iconic Lambretta and Mini. From 2000, the district has been the subject of an upgrading, which is still going on thanks to its constant evolution. LAMBRATE DISTRICT • In 2018, Lambrate Design District has been reconfirmed a cult location for all the design lovers of the world. Established district of the Design Week, the area is the symbol of innovation, freshness and quality. • Over 85,000 visitors has indeed visited the main venues. Described as the new Italian Brooklyn, Lambrate brings you out of the Milan chaos, to put you in a dimension that exudes ideas and innovation. FUORISALMONE • Since only the dead fishes follow the flow, FUORISALMONE showed a network of professionals and entrepreneurs who swim upstream. A synergic network that creates connections among the creativity of designers, the excellence of companies, the potential of products and the resources of the markets. During the Design Week, • FUORISALMONE presented for the fifth year a project aimed at an audience of professionals. Located in the Lambrate Design District the event aimed to offer real business opportunities and interaction between professionals and entrepreneurs. INNOVATION DESIGN DISTRICT • It is the new city district created by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore and Mediamond on the creative impulse of Icon Design and in collaboration with the Porta Nuova Smart Community. • It has made the area designed between Porta Nuova and Porta Volta the protagonist with the aim of creating a system and promoting the realities present on the territory, with particular attention to experimentation and creativity. CITY LIFE DISTRICT • At the 2018 edition of Milan Design Week a new district was born: the Citylife District, which was intoduced to the public with IN-OUT, Wellbeing in outdoor. • The project consisted of an exhibition en plein air and it developed the theme of outdoor wellness with installations, prototypes, concepts and materials. The aim was to create an oasis of relax during the MDW18, between the 17th and the 22nd of April 2018, and to create an experiential place where design becomes a medium for discussion about living and feeling good in the open air. CITY LIFE DISTRICT • The exhibition was developed in the urban context of Citylife in the area of Piazza Tre Torri with exhibitors occupying either different square meters of space or smaller spaces to even describe a single product or an idea. The project wants to create a creative hub dedicated to the outdoor. Moreover, great relevance will also be given to the theme of sustainability. • The intent was to create an active space where the framework created by design products becomes a system for sociality.
