IN the following pages is present«)d to tho reader a symposiut'l of views on the Indian States (Protection against Disaffection) Act of 1922, It contains the text of the Act, a full report of the apeechs made in the Legislature during its passage to the Statuto book, all tho official literature so far published in connection with it, like the assent of Uis Majesty the Gonrnor General'• despatch to tho Secretary of State and tho Press Communiqu6s explaining Government's position, a good auort!Ilent of non• official opinion on the subject, and a full report of the debate in the Houso of Commons on tho motion of Col. Wedgwood. Wo lead otT with a critical examination of all the argutDents advanced on the side of tho Government and the Princes, and then follows the petition presented to Parliament by tho Daxini. Sansthan Hitavardhak S.~b.ha when the Act was awaiting the Royal assent. Two similar petitiont presented by the K.athia• wad Hitavardhak Sabha, a sister institution, and tho Pro• gressivo Association of .J3ombay are also given.
