Spring 2017 Harper Green Celebrates Success! The annual Harper Green Presentation Evening took place in November at The Victoria Hall in Bolton. Pupils past and present, attended the event to celebrate their successes. It was an exceptional celebration, showcasing some of our most talented individuals. Mr Wilson worked his magic with the choir and our talented musicians whilst Miss Gunn choreographed some amazing dance pieces. Former pupils beamed with confidence when they took to the stage to receive their GCSE certificates. With the help, guidance and support of Harper Green staff, these pupils have achieved the best that they are capable of and have flourished to become young confident adults. Highlights from the Head
boltonschool.org Summer 2016 Highlights from the Head... The Summer term is always a time when the girls’ education is particularly rich in extra curricular activities and this year was no exception. Drama and Music were featured in both the Senior School and Hesketh House. The younger girls were inspirational with their show entitled ‘Once Upon a Time’, Year 6 produced an engaging ‘Sherehezade’ whilst members of Years 7-9 entertained us with the ‘Grimm Tales’. Meanwhile, regular readers will know that we are always looking for new ways to engage the girls in thinking about life after School. You can see examples of opportunities to explore different careers options throughout this edition of ‘Voice’, from Engineering in Year 7 (page 2) to Medicine for Years 11 and 12 (page 4). One innovation this year was the Year 10 trip to Oxford, designed to whet some girls’ appetite for academic study in the most challenging of intellectual environments. We also introduced a Year 12 trip to Cambridge, as part of the post AS programme. In addition to academic excellence, a Bolton School education emphasises the importance of teamwork, resilience and physical fitness. The pictures of the Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Bronze expedition will bring back memories of a trip which many girls consider to be the highlight of their Middle School career. As in the past, the staff were immensely impressed by the girls’ good humour and fortitude throughout. We hope that the drama, music, sport and outdoor pursuits which girls experience during their time with us will help them develop skills and talents which they will enjoy throughout their lives.
