February 4, 2011 Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca expands to 51 provincial campgrounds Book a campsite for the May long weekend beginning February 22 Edmonton... Starting February 22, Albertans and visitors can reserve a campsite up to 90 days in advance at 51 provincial campgrounds. The newest addition to Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca is Little Bow Provincial Park, near Lethbridge. “We are excited to add the popular Lethbridge area campground to our award-winning reservation service this year,” said Tourism, Parks and Recreation Minister Cindy Ady. “We know visitors appreciate the convenience of booking online with nearly 180,000 reservations since 2009.” Reservations at 51 provincial campgrounds are available online at Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca or by calling 1-877-537-2757 up to 90 days in advance of arrival. Visitors are encouraged to research their individual campsite ahead of time on interactive maps. Maps and photographs show the campsite size and features such as nearby trails, firepit location, and proximity to washrooms. The website provides a 360-degree panoramic view of each campsite and campground. More than 170 other provincial campgrounds offer first-come first-served only campsites, and some accept phone reservations through the local campground offices. More information is available at AlbertaParks.ca. There are nearly 500 provincial parks that cover about 27,667 square kilometres, or 4.1 per cent of the province's land base, as a legacy for future generations. -30- Backgrounder: 51 provincial campgrounds accepting online reservations Media inquiries may be directed to: Camille Weleschuk, Communications Tourism, Parks and Recreation 780-427-2206 [email protected] To call toll free within Alberta dial 310-0000.
