O knit my heart unto thee, that I may fear thy name. I will thank thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And will praise thy name for evermore. Amen. Music - William Fox d 1579 I H 1. O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! Bow down before him, his glory proclaim; With gold of obedience, and incense of lowliness, Kneel and adore him, the Lord is his name! 2. Low at his feet lay thy burden of carefulness, High on his heart he will bear it for thee, Comfort thy sorrows, and answer thy prayerfulness, Guiding thy steps as may best for thee be. 3. Fear not to enter his courts in the slenderness, Of the poor wealth thou wouldst reckon as thine: Truth in its beauty, and love in its tenderness, These are the offerings to lay on his shrine. 4. These, though we bring them in trembling and fearfulness, He will accept for the name that is dear; Mornings of joy give for evenings of tearfulness, Trust for our trembling and hope for our fear. 5. O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! Bow down before him, his glory proclaim; With gold of obedience, and incense of lowliness, Kneel and adore him: the Lord is his name. J S B Monsell 1811 -75 NEH 52 In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen Peace be with you. And lso with you. PENITENTIAL RITE The celebrant introduces the service and invites the people to confess their sins: My brothers and sisters, as we wait for the Lord to speak to us through his Word and feed us with the gift of himself in the Holy Communion, let us call to mind our sins. Show mercy to us loving Father, we have sinned against you, please make us anew. In your love and your grace you forgive us, Lord, have mercy. Lord, h Ce mercy Look not on our failings, Lord Jesus, we have sinned against you, please make us anew. By your life and your death you redeem us, 3 Christ, have mercy. Christ h Ce mercy Come, fill our hearts, Holy Spirit, we have sinned against you, please make us anew. Forgive us, and heal us and save us, Lord, have mercy. Lord, h Ce mercy May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. D EE 4 C Let us pray Grant to us, Lord, we beseech you, the spirit to think and do always such things as are right, that we, who cannot do anything that is good without you, may by you be enabled to live according to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen MINIST,G OF THE )O,D A ,I L P E 4: 25 -5: 2 So then, putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbours, for we are members of one another. Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not make room for the devil. Thieves must give up stealing; rather let them labour and work honestly with their own hands, so as to have something to share with the needy. Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption. Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. For the Word of the Lord. Th nks be to Dod. D H 1. In heavenly love abiding, 2. Wherever he may guide me, no change my heart shall fear; no want shall turn me back; and safe is such confiding, my Shepherd is beside me, for nothing changes here: and nothing can I lack: the storm may roar without me, his wisdom ever waking, my heart may low be laid; his sight is never dim, but God is round about me, he knows the way he’s taking, and can I be dismayed? and I will walk with him. 5 GOSPEL ACCLAMATION I am the living bread from heaven, says the Lord; whoever eats this bread will live forever. T H D The Lord be with you. And lso with you. The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to John Dlory to you Lord Jesus Christ. 6: 35, 41-51 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” Then the Jews began to complain about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” They were saying, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” Jesus answered them, “Do not complain among yourselves. No one can come to me unless drawn by the Father who sent me; and I will raise that person up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Every- one who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father. Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life. “I am the bread of life. “Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” The Gospel of the Lord Pr ise to you, Lord Jesus Christ 3. Green pastures are before me, which yet I have not seen; bright skies will soon be o’er me, where dark the clouds have been; my hope I cannot measure, my path to life is free; my Saviour has my treasure, and he will walk with me.
