BBC Good Food Show welcomes more Birmingham-based talent to the fold

Birmingham’s finest street food scene - Digbeth Dining Club, and newly opened Tom’s Kitchen will be making their mark at the BBC Good Food Show for the first time ever next week.

The popular outdoor dining club, which was the brainchild of Birmingham’s Jack Brabant and co-founder James Swinburne, alongside some of the top chefs from Tom’s Kitchen in The Mailbox, have revealed they will be appearing at the NEC event between 15 – 18 June.

Jack, who started Digbeth Dining Club in 2012 will be showcasing three of the club’s 60 strong street food traders at the popular show. These will include Boo-Fes Italian, Habaneros and Pietanic for visitors to enjoy.

Jack said: “The BBC Good Food Show is one of the most recognisable food events in the UK and we are proud to be a part of it. It is a real privilege to be representing the street food scene at the show, and is a testament to how the food industry is changing with trends.” Also flying the flag for Birmingham will be chefs from Tom’s Kitchen in The Mailbox who will be serving a selection of delicious taster dishes, from a comforting Mac and Cheese to an indulgent Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

Each year the BBC Good Food Show, brings its Supertheatre experience to the NEC, showcasing some of the UK’s favourite top chefs cooking live in a unique 30-minute theatre experience. 2017 will see Michelin masters Tom Kerridge and Michel Roux Jr taking to the stage, queen of baking Mary Berry back by popular demand, Show favourite James Martin, Italian favourites - Two Greedy Italians, Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo, and star baker Nadiya Hussain.

Joe Wicks, also known as the Body Coach, will be coming to Birmingham for the very first time. As a global success story, Joe will be bringing his enthusiasm and hugely popular nutritional and healthy dishes to the stage.

The line-up continues to highlight emerging chefs, restauranteurs and local experts too – making it a must for anyone who is serious about improving their culinary skills. This year sees the addition of free, ‘Eat Like a Local’ Supertheatre sessions featuring local chefs Luke Tipping from Simpsons in Birmingham and Adam Bennett from The Cross, Kenilworth.

There will also be a Michelin star challenge with Birmingham’s Glynn Purnell and Galton Blackiston on the Saturday, where the chefs will put their Michelin stars to the test, creating great dishes from un-used ingredients from the prep kitchen - demonstrating how you can reduce food waste.
