March 04th – The essence of Buenos Aires

Traditional Sightseeing Tour of Buenos Aires Our host will greet you at the pier. The ideal tour to enjoy the beauty and magic of the “Silver Queen” as Tango has named Buenos Aires. Starting from Colón Theatre we can see the symbolic Obelisco. Then you will visit (Square): historical, political and foundational epicenter. Metropolitan Cathedral, Government House, the Cabildo and the Municipality. This journey continues southwards, walking along old-stoned streets of SAN TELMO: “Tango” neighborhood. Following the same direction we arrive to La Boca neighborhood. There we find Boca Juniors Football Stadium, which is the maximum example of Argentina’s Passion: Football. We will visit : the most tourist place of the area. Bordering the Riachuelo, our tour continues northwards, visiting the old port we can notice how the physiognomy of the city changes. : panoramic view. In Retiro / San Martín Square, we connect with Libertador Ave. and we enter to the north of Buenos Aires City.

We will visit Palermo, which is a residential neighborhood with parks and elegant buildings. San Martiniano Institute, embassies, museums and significant monuments. Lastly we arrive to the region known as Bosques (Woods): El Rosedal, the Zoo, the Planetarium, the Japanese garden, and Lakes add life to the place. March 5 – The essence of Montevidéu

Option 1 – Tour of the “New City” & “Open City” of Montevidéu Your host greets you at the pier to enjoy a tour of the charming neighborhoods of Montevidéu, built after demolition of the Old City Walls in September of 1829. La Ciudad Nueva (The New City) was planned with wide tree-lined streets, magnificent stores and residences. From the Plaza Independência you can admire the surrounding buildings of different heights and styles, defining it as a city facing the future. The main avenue, 18 de Julio, starts here. A few blocks away, we visit the Plaza Fabini. There you see the magnificent sculpture of a horse battle between the first Spanish settlers and the native inhabitants, a masterpiece of the Uruguayan artist José Belloni. From this spot we have a clear view of the Palacio Legislativo (Congress), a multi-coloured marble building - one of the most sumptuous in Latin America. We visit the Montevidéu City Hall Observation Deck and then continue to the Ciudad Abierta (The Open City), the area of Montevidéu which gradually grew into an open city of green parks, famous monuments and residential areas. We will see the famous Estadio Centenario (Sports Centre - entrance fee not included), Monumento a la Carreta, and the residential area of Carrasco and Punta Gorda.

The tour includes a visit to one of the following. Begin with a visit to the intriguing “Casapueblo”, a spectacular property on the hillside over the Atlantic Ocean that was designed and built by the renowned Uruguayan artist Carlos Paez Vilaró. Continue to “Mansa” beach and discover the pirate tales of the area known as “Las Delicias” located in front of the “Gorritti Island”. Punta is rising in sophistication and is attracting an increasingly international clientele. Main attractions include the marina and port, which is usually frequented by the massive sea lions.

The tour continues onto the undulated crazy bridge of La Barra; this area is famous for its antique shops, local craft shops and charming atmosphere, very similar to its “twin” village “Manantiales which you will visit some kilometers ahead.
