In 1954, Logan Wilson was named acting chancellor and later that year the Regents abolished the position and the office. Wilson was reappointed when the Regents re- established the position in 1960. From 1961 to 1970 Harry H. Ransom served as Chancellor, also serving as President from 1960 to 1961. During the period of 1963 to 1967 there was no UT President, so Ransom served as CAO of campus as Chancellor. Other former UT Chancellors include: 1971-1978 Charles A. LeMaistre 1978-1984 E.
