The 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour continues with the starred classification of its events, with three five-star events, all of which are the Major Series, ten four-star events, six three-star events, six two- star events, and 21 one-star events, along with the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals. One FIVB Age Group World Championships for players under the age of 19 will also be held. The 2018 World Tour began in September of 2017 in France and concludes in August in Germany. 2018 marks the 32nd anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Four events played in 2017: France (Montpellier), China (Qinzhou), Netherlands (Aalsmeer), and Australia (Sydney), are part of the 2018 FIVB World Tour. Two events held in September- October, 2018 in China (Qinzhou and Yangzhou) will be part of the 2019 FIVB World Tour. · The double-gender $10,000 FIVB Bangkok One Star is the 19th men’s and the 16th women’s event on the 2018 FIVB World Tour. The FIVB returns to Thailand for the tenth time and the second time this season. For more information regarding the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, please visit fivb.com. · May 10-13, Bangkok, Thailand, Men and Women, $10,000 – Thailand has hosted nine previous FIVB World Tour events, eight of which were for women only. Satun hosted a double-gender event last month. Phuket hosted the first event in 2006 and has hosted all but two of the events, the one in Satun and another in Bang Saen. Thailand has never won two medals on its country’s soil; a men’s gold and a women’s bronze medal, both in the Satun event last month. · The FIVB Bangkok One Star starts May 10 and concludes May 13.
