The 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour continues with the starred classification of its events, with three five-star events, all of which are the Major Series, ten four-star events, five three-star events, six two-star events, and 21 one-star events, along with the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals. One FIVB Age Group World Championships for players under the age of 19 will also be held. The 2018 World Tour began in September of 2017 in France and concludes in August in Germany. 2018 marks the 32nd anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Four events played in 2017: France (Montpellier), China (Qinzhou), Netherlands (Aalsmeer), and Australia (Sydney), are part of the 2018 FIVB World Tour. One event held in October, 2018 in China (Yangzhou) will be part of the 2019 FIVB World Tour. · The men’s-only $5,000 FIVB Blooming Beach Aalsmeer One Star is the 11th men’s event on the 2018 FIVB World Tour. The women have played six events. The FIVB returns to the Netherlands for the tenth time overall with The Hague hosting the first men’s and women’s events in 2009. For more information regarding the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, please visit fivb.com. · March 15-18, Aalsmeer, Netherlands, Men Only, $5,000 – Netherlands has hosted 18 previous FIVB World Tour events with The Hague hosting double-gender events beginning in 2009 as well as playing host to the 2015 World Championships along with the cities of Amsterdam, Apeldoorn, and Rotterdam. Netherlands has already hosted two double-gender events as part of the 2018 World Tour, a one-star event in Aalsmeer last October and a four-star event in The Hague in January. Netherlands has won five previous medals on its country’s soil, a men’s gold, two silver medals, and a bronze medal and a women’s gold medal. · The FIVB Blooming Beach Aalsmeer One Star starts March 15 and concludes March 18. The winning team will share the $1,000 first-place prize. The women have played 338 events. The first men’s FIVB World Tour event was played February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the first women’s event was played August 14-16, 1992 at Almeria, Spain.
