The 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour continues with the starred classification of its events, with three five-star events, all of which are the Major Series, nine four-star events, six three- star events, seven two-star events, and 22 one-star events, along with the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals. One FIVB Age Group World Championships for players under the age of 19 will also be held. The 2018 World Tour began in September of 2017 in France and concludes in August in Germany. 2018 marks the 32nd anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Four events played in 2017: France (Montpellier), China (Qinzhou), Netherlands (Aalsmeer), and Australia (Sydney), are part of the 2018 FIVB World Tour. Nine events being played in August-October, 2018 in Hungary (Siofok), France (Montpellier), China (Zhongwei, Qinzhou, and Yangzhou), Iran (Bandar Torkaman, Babolsar, and Bandar Anzali), and Mexico (Chetumal) will be part of the 2019 FIVB World Tour. · The double-gender $300,000 FIVB Moscow Four Star is the 41st men’s and the 42nd women’s event on the 2018 FIVB World Tour. The FIVB returns to Russia for the 14th-straight year with Moscow hosting the first men’s event in 1998 and St. Petersburg hosting the first double-gender event in 2005. St. Petersburg also hosted the Goodwill Games in 1994. For more information regarding the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, please visit fivb.com. · August 8-12, Moscow, Russia, Men and Women, $300,000 – Moscow is hosting an FIVB Beach Volleyball event for the 13th time, including two men’s only events in 1998 and 1999, double-gender Grand Slams every season from 2008-16, and a three-star event in 2017. Russia has hosted 40 previous FIVB World Tour events including 21 men’s and 19 women’s tournaments. Moscow has hosted the most events with 22 followed by St. Petersburg with eight, Anapa with six, including a one-star in July, and Sochi with four. Host country Russia has won 15 previous medals on its country’s soil, including eight men’s medals (2 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze) and seven women’s medals (2 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze). · The FIVB Moscow Four Star starts August 8 and concludes August 12.
