CARMEN SOLÍS Carmen Solís began her operatic and concert career in France (Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, Royan, Saint Genis), Canada (Québec ), Chile, Germany, Italy, Portugal as well as in leading venues in her native with such renowned accompanists as Ricardo Estrada or Rubén Fernández Aguirre. She has performed under the baton of Plácido Domingo, Thomas Sanderling, Ros Marbá, Pedro Halffter, Josep Caballé-Domenech, Daniel Lipton, Kazushi Ono, José Adrian Leaper,

Julian Kovatchev, Paolo Arrivabeni, José Ramón Encinar, Guerassim Voronkov, Miguel Angel Gómez Martínez, Oliver Díaz, Manuel Coves, José Luis Dominguez, Alvaro Albiach, etc. At the same time, she has collaborated with stage directors such as Emilio Sagi, Curro Carreres, José Carlos Plaza, Olivia Fuchs, Renzo Giacchieri, Fabio Sparvoli, Gustavo Tambascio, Hugo de Ana or Gilbert Defló together with ORTVE, Teatro Real Orchestra, Al Ayre Español, Staatskapelle de Halle (Germany), AGAO Orchestra, Québec Opera Orchestra, ORCAM, O.P. Asturias, Extremadura Symphonic Orchestra, Orchestra del Teatro del Liceo, Orchestra della Toscana, OSCYI, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, OBC, Bilbao Symphonic Orchestra, etc. Her debut in Teatro Real () was in the role of Furie in the concert version of Ernst Krenek's opera Orpheus und Euridyke. Since 2009 her main stage appearances have been Amelia (, Un Ballo in Maschera) at the Oviedo Opera, where she also sang the role of Leonora (Giuseppe Verdi, ) and Madama Butterfly. She performed the role of Cio-Cio-San in Gijón and in the Teatro Municipal of Santiago de Chile, where she sang Nedda (Ruggero Leoncavallo, ) as well. She performed in Bilbao, Pamplona and the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca (Italy), Suor Angelica in Badajoz, Mimi (, La bohème) in , Contessa (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Le Nozze di Figaro) in ABAO Bilbao. Her extensive catalogue of includes Federico Moreno Torroba’s Luísa Fernanda, Paloma (El Barberillo), Reyes (Entre Sevilla y Triana) with performances in Oviedo, in Bilbao and at the Teatro Maestranza (Seville), Aurora (La del Soto del Parral) in Alicante and Alcoy, Sagrario (La Rosa del Azafrán) in the Teatro Gayarre (Pamplona), etc. Her first solo CD (Nana) of Spanish song, together with the pianist Eduardo Moreno, was released in 2015 (Brilliant Classics). She also took part in the recording of a recital with ORTVE and Adrian Leaper for the RTVE (Spanish Radio and Television) label as well as contemporary music with Ensemble XX-XXI. In the area of oratorio and choral symphonic works, she has performed Giuseppe Verdi’s , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation mass, Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, Franz Schubert’s Mass in G Major, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater; Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Ninth symphony, Gioacchino Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle, as well as liederabend and contemporary repertoire. Her most important future commitments are the debut of Soleá (El Gato Montés) in the (Madrid) and Liú of in the Auditori of Barcelona as well as a recording of works by Verdi and Puccini together with the pianist Rubén Fernández Aguirre.

NICHOLAS CHALMERS Conductor Nicholas Chalmers is widely recognised as having established some of the most exciting and highly successful artistic projects in the UK in recent years. Nicholas is the artistic director of the award winning Nevill Holt Opera (Best Festival 2016), conductor with Northern Ireland Opera and a founding artistic director of Second Movement. With his long term collaborator – the director Oliver Mears – he has created over twenty productions and has been at the forefront of promoting young singers and contemporary music. The Rough for Opera series (produced by Second Movement) at the Cockpit Theatre, has commissioned and showcased over forty young and librettists over the last five years.

With Nevill Holt Opera, Nicholas has conducted The magic flute, La bohème and The turn of the screw, Carmen, and The elixir of love. For Second Movement he has conducted Mozart and Salieri, Trouble in Tahiti, The Medium and Impresario, Les deux aveugles, Rothschild’s Violin and The Knife’s tears. engagements with Northern Ireland Opera include The Medium, Tosca (Best Opera, Irish Times Theatre Awards), The turn of the screw, Noye's Fludde (Belfast Zoo, Beijing, Shanghai), The flying Dutchman, The bear, Macbeth, The magic flute, Salome, Don Giovanni, Powder her face and Così fan tutte. Nicholas studied music at Oxford University and conducting at the Piacenza and Conservatoires and was on the music staff at English National Opera from 2008 to 2011. In 2012 Nicholas was the first person to conduct a ’s opera in China with Noye’s Fludde, in Beijing. Recent engagements include Messiah (Opéra National de Lyon), The turn of the screw (Zurich Opera) and Noye’s Fludde (China Philharmonic).
