North Cyprus Mushrooms, Their Ecology, Distribution, Classification
First List of the Wild Mushrooms of Jordan Prof. Dr. Ahmad Al-Raddad Al-Momany Royal Botanic Garden 1st Annual Scientific Day Thursday January 12, 2012 Amman, Jordan Project Objectives 1- Establish a checklist of the wild mushrooms of Jordan as a part of the National species Database (NSD) 2- Establish the national museum of wild mushrooms of Jordan at the Royal Botanic Garden at Tell Ar-Rumman 3- Produce a book, a field guide and an online gallery about the wild mushrooms of Jordan The Nutritional Value of Mushrooms 100 grams for daily body requirements 1- Mushrooms are a good source of vitamins, essential amino acids and proteins. 2- Mushrooms are a great source of minerals such as phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and selenium. 3- In addition, mushrooms contain virtually no fat or cholesterol, and are naturally low in sodium. 4- Mushrooms are also a good source of fiber. 5- They are antioxidants and help in cancer treatment. 6- Mushrooms are low in calories and are an anti-aging food. What is a mushroom? A mushroom is actually the fruiting structure of a fungus. The fungus is simply a net of thread-like fibers, called a mycelium, growing in soil, wood or decaying organic matter. Most mushrooms are edible and highly delicious. Others are not edible, and the rest are deadly poisonous. Wild Mushrooms Poisonous Edible The function of a mushroom is to produce spores, which are the propagative structures of the fungus. Spore identification is the master key for mushroom classification. Basidiospores of Agaricus Spore print of Mycena Mushroom Groups 1. -
I Funghi Della Zona Subalpina E Alpina Dello Sciliar – Raccolta Dei Dati E Considerazioni Al “Progetto Sciliar”
The fungi of the subalpine and alpine zone of the Sciliar massif – checklist and conclusions of the "Sciliar project" The author describes the methods of the search for fungi and of the mycological work adopted by the Gruppo Micologico Bresadola of Bolzano within the "Nature Project Schlern" during the research years 2006 and 2007. Results and scientific conclusions include a checklist (578 taxa) with descriptions and illustrations of rare and/or peculiar fungi, as well as ecological considerations based on the recorded fungal community patterns. Keywods: Checklist, Fungi, Basidiomycota, Ascomycota, Myxomycetes, Sciliar, South Tyrol, Italy. 1.

A vizsgált faj micéliumnövekedése lénye- gesen gyorsabb, sőt a táptalaj felületén micéliumistrángokat képez, melyekből primordiumok is fejlődnek. Az A. macrosporoides ezen tulajdonságai miatt könnyen termesztésbe vonható. A három faj kölcsönös rendszertani viszonyának tisztázása további molekuláris vizsgálato- kat igényel. Extinct Species and Potentially Threatened Species
PERSOONIA Published by the Rijksherbarium, Leiden Volume 14, Part 1, pp. 77-125 (1989) A preliminary Red Data List of Macrofungi in the Netherlands Eef Arnolds Biological Station, Wijster (Drente), Netherlands An enumeration is presented of species of macrofungi considered to be threatened in the Netherlands. The list comprises 944 species, including 91 (presumably) extinct species and 182 species which are directly threatened with extinction. In addition for each species is if the associated information given on preferential habitat, substrate, possible organ- of habitat estimated before 1950 and after 1970 and isms, way exploitation, frequency in Red Data Lists of other countries. The criteria used for presence European placing a species on the Red Data List are briefly discussed. Some statistical data are presented on contribution of various taxonomic and the list. The the proportional ecological groups to most important causes for the decrease ofthreatened macrofungi are concisely discussed and some measures for conservation of macrofungiare recommended. 1. Introduction In the framework of an expected revision of the national law on nature conservation, the Nature Conservation Council in the Netherlandsintended to make an inventory ofproblems concerning conservation oflower plants (bryophytes, lichens and algae) and fungi. Lists of threatened species will possibly be includedin the new law. For the preparation of these lists ad hoc of and accompanying texts an working group experts was appointed in 1985, in which the and the present author participated proposed text on fungi. The results were published as proposals to the Ministerof Agriculture in 1986 (Natuurbeschermingsraad, 1986) and includ- ed a list of 406 selected threatened fungi (see also Kuyper, 1987). -

Three Species of the Genus Agaricus New to Poland
ACTa MYCOLoGica Vol. 43 (2): 161–165 2008 Three species of the genus Agaricus new to Poland Janusz Łuszczyński Department of Botany, institute of Biology, Jan kochanowski university Świętokrzyska 15, PL-25-406 kielce, [email protected] Łuszczyński J.: Three species of the genus Agaricus new to Poland. acta Mycol. 43 (1): 161–165, 2008. The paper presents informations on Agaricus excellens (F. H. Møller) F. H. Møller, A. maleolens F. H. Møller and A. romagnesii Wasser, three new species for Poland. Key words: Agaricus excellens, A. maleolens, A. romagnesii, Góry Świętokrzyskie Mts., kielce, Poland inTroDucTion Fruitbodies of fungi belonging to the genus Agaricus are characterised by a white or yellow pileus and free gills with a regular trama when young, later becoming ir- regular. spores are globose, oval or elliptical and the spore print is purple-brown to black-brown. The spore wall is smooth, often thick and indistinctly pseudoamyloid. cheilocystidia either occur or are absent. The shape, size and attachment of the ring are important diagnostic features of the genus. Much attention is also paid to the reaction of the flesh in aniline, concentrated Hno3, strong naoH or KOH and to the discolouration of the cuticle or the flesh on exposure to air when the fruitbody is rubbed or broken. Despite large fruitbodies, few fungi of the genus Agaricus are known in Poland and were until recently represented merely by 28 species (Wojewoda 2003). in con- trast, ca. 55 species are known in Germany (krieglsteiner 1991), Poland’s neigh- bour where climatic and habitat conditions are similar. -
