INTRODUCTION Allahabad officially known as Prayagraj, also known as AIlahabad, is a metropolis in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is the administrative headquarters of the Allahabad district—the most populous district in the state and 13th most populous district in India—and the Allahabad division. The city is the judicial capital of Uttar Pradesh with the Allahabad High Court being the highest judicial body in the state. As of 2011, Allahabad is the seventh most populous city in the state, thirteenth in Northern India and thirty-sixth in India, with an estimated population of 1.53 million in the city. In 2011 it was ranked the world's 40th fastest- growing city. Allahabad, in 2016, was also ranked the third most liveable urban agglomeration in the state (after Noida and Lucknow) and sixteenth in the country. Hindi is the most widely spoken language in the city. Allahabad lies close to Triveni, Sangam, the "three-river confluence" of the Ganges, Yamuna and Sarasvati rivers. It plays a central role in Hindu scriptures. 2. BACKGROUND A Detailed Project Report on Sewerage Scheme of Prayagraj was prepared by UP Jal Nigam and submitted to NMCG. 3. OBJECTIVES The main objectives of the Detailed Project Report are-: To ascertain that no untreated sewage is discharged into river Yamuna through open drains/nallas. To identify solutions for untapped nallas carrying wastewater to River Yamuna by means of tapping arrangements, pumping station and sewage treatment plants as and where required. 2 SPMG TPI Report for Operation and Maintenance of MPS and 14 MLD STP Salori in Prayagraj City To carry out the design of all sub components of the project to the level sufficient for estimation of capital cost and O&M Cost to a reasonably accurate level. To ascertain additional treatment capacity required for treating wastewater carried by open drains/nallas. 4. 14 MLD STP AT SALORI. ALLAHABAD (UTTAR PRADESH) AA&ES for the project on “Construction of 14 MLD Capacity STP at Salori, Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh) under Infrastructure investment component of World Bank Assisted National Ganga Basin Project at an estimated cost of Rs.42.40 crores including 5 years O&M was sanctioned by NMCG on 29th October 2014. The period for completion of work is 18 months from the date of award of contract and within 27 months from the date of sanction. Revised AA&ES of costing Rs. 39.36 Crores includes capital cost, 5 years O&M and Project Preparation & Supervision has been approved by NMCG, New Delhi, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation vide order no. Pr-12012/2020 – O/o Project Development Uttar Pradesh dated 09th July 2020. The main components are listed as below:- Sewage Treatment Plant at Salori 01 No. Capacity - 14 MLD. Main pumping Station - 14 MLD. Effluent Pumping Station - - 43 MLD. The work was allotted by General Manager, GPCU, Allahabad vide letter No. 3847/610/397 Dated 01.10.2014 to M/s UEM India Pvt. Ltd for Rs. 53.39 Crores (Design build cost – Rs. 24.25 Crores and O&M Cost for 10 years - Rs. 29.25 Crores). Attached as Annexure- I. Presently all the works of the project has been completed and Completion report has been given. O&M has been started by M/s UEM India Pvt. Ltd w.e.f. 01.10.2016 The work is in post construction phase. Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board has given consent to operate 14mld STP upto 31.12.2022. vide Letter No. 91123/UPPCB/Allahabad(UPPCBRO)/CTO/Water/ Allahabad/2020 dated 30.03.2020. 3 SPMG TPI Report for Operation and Maintenance of MPS and 14 MLD STP Salori in Prayagraj City 5 TPI VISIT BY WAPCOS ON 29.06.2021 WAPCOS conducted site visit as part of TPI for Operation and Maintenance of 14 mld STP, MPS and EPS at Salori in Prayagraj City on 29.06.2021. WAPCOS team comprised of following Experts: Mr. Ravi Chandra, Top Level Expert Mr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhary, Top Level Expert Mr. Sunny Dwivedi, Middle Level Expert The following officials from UP Jal Nigam and representative of contracting firm were present: Mr. B.K Srivastava, AE, UP Jal Nigam. Mr. Arvind Kumar Yadav, AE, UP Jal Nigam. Mr. Ajay Kumar Dubey, JE, UP Jal Nigam. Mr. Premoo Tiwari, Plant Head, M/s UEM India Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Inder Dev Pandey, Civil, M/s UEM India Pvt. Ltd. O & M manual and O&M schedule not available. Painting of Structures is required. PLC and SCADA was working but SCADA reports for daily discharge is not available.     Varanasi Division Varanasi is one of the oldest cities of the world and occupies an important place amongst all the religious, cultural and spiritual cities of India. Varanasi is situated on the bank of the holy river Ganges. Most famous temple of Lord Shiva, the Kashi Vishwanath temple, one of the twelve Jyotirligas, is located here. Tourists, not only from various parts of India but also those from foreign countries all over the world, visit this place very frequently. Sarnath, the famous Baudh Pilgrimage is situated very close by, at a distance of about 8 Kms only. This is the place where Lord Buddha delivered his first Preaching. Varanasi is also famous for its cottage industry, handicraft and products thereof, including world famous Benarasi sarees too. Varanasi Division of North Eastern Railway was formed on 01.05.1969. The main routes of the division on Broad Gauge Line comprise of Gorakhpur-Chhapra, Bhatni-Allahabad City, Chhapra-Aunrihar, Mau-Shahganj, Gorakhpur- Paniyahwa, Indara-Phephna, Aunrihar-Jaunpur , Kaptanganj-Thawe and Chhapra Kachery-Thawe sections, while Indara-Dohri Ghat is only Meter Gauge section. Varanasi division is mainly a passenger traffic oriented division. Until 1981, when the work of gauge conversion started on Gorakhpur-Siwan section, this division was basically Meter Gauge route system. Subsequently, gauge conversion was completed in phases : Varanasi-Bhatni (year-1990), Varanasi-Allahabad City (year-1993-94), Aunrihar-Chhapra (year-1996), Mau-Shahganj (year- 1997), Gorakhpur-Paniyahwa (year-1997), Indara-Phephna (year-1999), Aunrihar-Jaunpur, Kaptangaj-Thawe (year 2011) and Chhapra Kachery-Thawe (year 2016-17). Thus, barring only Indara-Dohri Ghat section, Gauge Conversion has been completed on all other sections of the division.
