INTRODUCING THE HEAD OF NCS

Dear National Olympic Committees,

It is my pleasure to be addressing you in occasion of the frst NOC Bulletin of Buenos Aires 2018. I am eager to work with you in the delivery of the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games and I am confdent that we will build a great relationship in the years to come. But frst, I would like you to know a little more my background.

I studied Sport Administration and Public Relations and I started my career in the world of multisport events as a volunteer in the Rio 2007. After this amazing experience, I moved to in 2009 in order to join the team of the 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games where I worked as a Team Leader for the Americas in the NOC Relations Division.

After the great success of Singapore 2010, I returned to Buenos Aires and started working at the Argentine Olympic Committee (AOC) in the General Manager’s team. While working at the AOC, I had the chance to be part of the Local Organising Committee of the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires in 2013 as the Coordinator of the Volunteer Programme.

I joined the BAYOGOC in 2014, where I was a part of the Planning, Coordination & Integration Direction until the activation of the NOC Services function. As part of the BAYOGOC team, I also participated in the Observer Programme in 2014 and had the great opportunity to work during Games time in the NOC Services Centre in the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, 2016 and Rio 2016.

The NOC Services Team will be composed of a highly motivated young and proactive group of people. We aim to be innovative and sustainable in the development of our work and policies in line with the spirit of the YOG to be an accelerator, an incubator and a way of understanding what young people want.

I look forward to the next years of getting to know each and every one of you in the Buenos Aires 2018 amazing journey.

We believe Learn & Share (formerly known as Culture and Education Programme, CEP) of the YOG has a central strategic importance. That is why since 2014 BAYOGOC’s Learn & Share Team has been developing proposals in different parts of the City of Buenos Aires to achieve youth active participation in sports, cultural and educational activities, with a view to continuing a legacy that goes beyond Buenos Aires 2018 and supports the foundations of personal and social change.

The goal is to leave a real mark and legacy before, during, and after the Games, by bringing sports closer to people and creating activities that promote culture and education. Therefore, while we wait for the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games to arrive, we have prepared a series of inspiring events to encourage WATCH youth to enjoy sports and share the Olympic values of friendship, respect, and excellence. INTRODUCING THE YOUTH OLYMPIC VILLAGE

The Youth Olympic Village (YOV) will be located in the southern part of the City of Buenos Aires within the Parque de la Ciudad, a public green space oriented towards recreational use. The YOV will be part of the Youth Olympic Park (YOP) in connection with other new upcoming venues. Since the YOV is surrounded by three main avenues: De la Cruz, Escalada and Coronel Roca, which connect with the main areas of the city, it is easy and secure to get there. The Ministro Pistarini International Airport, also known as Ezeiza, 23 minutes away.

Integrated inside the Youth Olympic Park, the Youth Olympic Village will be the Buenos Aires 2018 epicentre where all the participants will reside (live, rest, eat and sleep) during the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games. The YOV is the heart of the YOG, the main place where athletes will be spending the majority of their time. It should give the athletes a sense of purpose during their stay, providing entertainment, boosting their curiosity and encouraging the athletes to interact among themselves and with local youth. The YOV will be shaped by 31 buildings where residents’ apartments will be located. The ground foors of the building will have facilities that will provide services to the residents: Medical Clinic, NOCs Services Centre, Event Information Centre, Fitness Centre, etc.

The YOV will also allocate a Village Square (VS) that will be considered the hub of the event where athletes will integrate, share, enjoy, learn and play during their spare time. The importance of the interaction and integration of both pillars, live- in areas and the Village Square with youth will be decisive for the success of the YOV experience. Furthermore, the YOV will be linked and fused with experiences and encounters that residents will discover in their daily life within the YOV.

We are looking forward to welcoming all the National Olympic Committees in the Youth Olympic Village!
