The 6th Annual Verdugo Mountains 10K will take place on Sunday, May 1, 2016. The 6.2 miles and 1,735 foot elevation gain will make for one Sunday morning you will never forget! The Community Services & Parks' Senior Nutritional Home Delivered Meals Program is designed to provide a healthy meal alternative to homebound seniors.

Requirements: Client must be 60 years of age or older, homebound, and reside in Glendale, La Crescenta, or Montrose. Delivery includes: 7 frozen meals (prepackaged) per week, 7 half-pints of milk (non- fat or 1%), 7 pieces of bread, and fresh Fruit (assorted or canned). Parent's Night Out - Glendale Parks & Open Space Pacific Community Center MAP Foundation May 6, 2016 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. - Trails and Open Spac Program

Glendale Rocks! Climbing Wall

Restoration Expo Brand Park, Doctors House Museum MAP May 15, 2016 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Join The Glendale Historical Society for a restoration expo on May 15, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. There will be vendor booths and presentations by preservation experts on how to maintain your precious Glendale property. This event is free and will include Doctors House tours at specified times during the event.

For more information, please call, (818) 242-7447. Glendale Rocks! Portable climbing wall is 26 vertical feet of pure fun and excitement! The wall can be used for fundraisers, company events, grand openings, physical education classes or special events. The wall can handle 4 climbers at a time and up to 45 climbers per hour. The standard rental package includes two employees, the wall and safety equipment for a two hour period.

Party on the Go! Teen Night Out Schedule Change Pacific Community Center MAP EVERY Friday 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. January 15 and 29 Youth & Family Services is offering Teen Night Out every Friday at Pacific Community Center, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Teens ages 14 and older can come hang out at the facility, and participate in some activities while being supervised by staff. Snacks and refreshments will be served.

Each party package is designed for children ages 5-12 and includes arts and crafts, sports and games.

The basic “Party on the Go!” package includes two staff for two hours and 6 games/ activities for up to 12 children.

One Glendale, Afterschool Youth Sports Program Volleyball Championship Day Pacific Community Center MAP May 21, 2016 Consolation Game: 10:00 a.m. Championship Game: 11:00 a.m.

Join us for the One Glendale, Afterschool Youth Sports Program Volleyball Championship Day on May 21st, starting at 10:00 a.m. at Pacific Community Center. Over 300 people are expected to attend both the consolation and championship game and cheer for the program’s participants. A ribbon, medal, and trophy ceremony will take place at the end of each game.

The One Glendale Afterschool Youth Sports Program is a collaboration between the City of Glendale Community Services and Parks Department and the Glendale Unified School District designed to provide afterschool sports programming to youth in four South Glendale Schools in the 4th and 5th grades and is comprised of four sports over the course of four seasons: flag football, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. The four schools participating in One Glendale, Afterschool Youth Sports Program’s inaugural year are Horace Mann Elementary, Marshall Elementary, Cerritos Elementary, and Edison Elementary schools. Thirty students from each school practice three days a week and play regular season games every Wednesday. Each season lasts 8 weeks long with a championship game at the conclusion of each season.

The program's third season, featured soccer and had it's championship games on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Pacific Community Center. Congratulations to Cerritos Elementary for winning first place!

In addition to the 10K Trail Run and Hike, in the month of May we are presenting one Interpretive Program and three Workdays for the public.

Riverwalk Workday Glendale Narrows Riverwalk MAP May 7, 2016 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The Riverwalk Workday for this month is scheduled for Saturday, May 7th along the . Join our volunteers at the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk from 8:00 a.m. until noon as we work in the river and the landscaped areas along the trail.

"Lend A Hand at Brand - Part 2" Trail Workday Brand Park MAP May 7, 2016 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

On Saturday, May 7th is our “Lend A Hand at Brand - Part 2”. We will be at Brand Park from 8:00 a.m. until noon for a trail workday. This event is for ages 16 and older. No experience is needed. We will provide instruction on proper tool use and teach you how to work on the trails. Please R.S.V.P.by calling (818) 548-3795.

"Friday the 13th Twilight Hike" Deukmejian Wilderness Park MAP May 13, 2016 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Guess what day we are holding our “Friday the 13th Twilight Hike” at Deukmejian Wilderness Park? That’s right…on Friday, May 13th! We will be on the trail from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. as we hike through the park and learn all about the superstitions that are associated with this day.
