III. RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

Type of Recruitment Initiative Brief Description of Activity and Scope of Broadcaster’s Participation

1 Internship Program/News (4) Under the direction of our News Director and our Chief Meteorologist, the SEU hosted four interns referred to our internship program by local communications/journalism schools. The internship program allows participants to gain practical experience in the many aspects of broadcasting operations. A student from Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX interned 5 days a week from May 13, 2013 through August 2, 2013. A meteorology student from Texas A&M University - College Station, in College Station, TX interned 5 days a week from May 6, 2013 through July 26, 2013. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Starkville, MS, with a B.S. in Meteorology, interned 5 days a week from December 2, 2013 to January 3, 2014 to perfect her skills as a Meteorologist. A student from Tyler Junior College, Tyler, TX is currently interning 5 days a week. The internship began on February 10, 2014 and will end on May 4, 2014.

2 Host an event/program sponsored by On April 9, 2013, our SEU hosted students from the Journalism or on behalf of an educational Department of Bullard High School in Bullard, TX. Our News institution relating to careers in Director spoke to the students about careers in broadcasting. Our broadcasting Creative Services Director took the students on a tour of our facility gave them an overview of the broadcast news industry. There was a question and answer period following the tour.

3 Participate in Job Fair On April 10, 2013, our SEU participated in a job fair at The University of Texas at Tyler in Tyler, TX. Information was distributed about the station, job opportunities currently available, and application procedures. Station participants included our General Sales Manager and Human Resources Director. 4 Host an event/program sponsored by On April 17, 2013, our SEU hosted a group of broadcast or on behalf of an educational journalism students from Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX. Our institution relating to careers in Chief Meteorologist spoke to the students about career broadcasting opportunities in journalism and broadcasting with a focus on recruiting and educational requirements. Students were given a tour of the station’s weather center and then participated in a question and answer period.

5 Participate in Job Fair On September 26, 2013, our SEU participated in the Arlington Answers job fair held at the Church on Rush Creek in Arlington, TX. Careers in broadcasting, job opportunities currently available, and application procedures were explained to job candidates. Station participants included our Business Manager and Production Manager.

6 Participate in Job Fair On October 9, 2013, our SEU participated in a job fair at the University of Texas at Tyler in Tyler, TX. Careers in broadcasting, job opportunities currently available, and application procedures were explained to students. Station participants included our Human Resources Director and Business Manager.

7 Participate in Job Fair On October 15, 2013, our SEU participated in a job fair at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX. Careers in broadcasting, job opportunities currently available, and application procedures were explained to students. Station participants included our Business Manager and Human Resources Director.

8 Participate in event/program On November 22, 2013, the SEU’s News Director spoke to two sponsored by or on behalf of an journalism classes at the University of Texas at Tyler in Tyler, educational institution relating to TX, explaining the differences between print journalism and careers in broadcasting (2) broadcast journalism. Each session was followed by a question and answer period.

9 Participate in program designed to On November 14, 2013, the Media Advisory Board of the disseminate information regarding University of Texas at Tyler, in Tyler, TX, met on the University careers in broadcasting campus. Our News Director serves on the board, which meets quarterly and focuses on providing advice and guidance to students enrolled in the University’s journalism school. 10 Host an event/program sponsored by On December 2, 2013, our SEU hosted a group of students from or on behalf of an educational East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX. One of our institution relating to careers in Meteorologists spoke about careers in broadcasting as well as broadcasting weather and what it is like to be a meteorologist. The students toured the weather center and viewed the evening Newscast. Our Creative Services Director completed the tour after which there was a question and answer period.
