The stories KHOU-TV, Houston are filled with beautiful video, great lighting, interesting camera angles and very nice use of nats. Great job! Second Place KENS-TV, San Antonio Good reporter standup section and military video. Great "Mejor Bella Que Perfecta" photography and great use of nats. 2 TEXAS ASSOCIATED PRESS BROADCASTERS 2018 Winners and Judges’ Comments Photojournalism-Individual First Place Beautiful photography, great lighting, very nice use of nats, KHOU-TV, Houston music and creative camera angles. Kyle Porter Second Place KENS-TV, San Antonio Interesting shots throughout. Great standup and use of the Michael Humphries map. Good use of nats in all the pieces. "Purveyor of Moving Images" Sports Story First Place It was wonderfully written, edited and shot. The clear winner. KXAS-TV, Fort Worth Kristopher Gutierrez "When the Friday Night Lights Go Out" Second Place KENS-TV, San Antonio Marvin Hurst and Louis Ramirez "La Bombita" Documentary/Magazine or Special First Place Great stories. I like that each piece was introduced by a KHOU-TV, Houston reporter. Good weaving together of stories. "Harvey One Year Later" Second Place KPRC-TV, Houston Very nice editing. Good use of music. Very thorough profile Daniel Brown piece on the President's life starting with his childhood. Great "Remembering George H.W. Bush, interviews. The methodology was KXAN-TV, Austin precise and directional. The digital components added value "The Long Road to Equality" and made this multi-layered series interactive for viewers. Great work! Second Place KPRC-TV, Houston Drew me in from the opening line and held my attention. It had "Houston Film Commission: Sharon a 'Hollywood' feel but was not overly flashy or overworked. The Sells Houston... in Hollywood!" work put into this series was evident and really helped drive the content. Great subject with interesting KENS-TV, San Antonio characters throughout. Makes me want to try this kind of Michael Humphries bowling! "Last of the Lanes: The 9-Pin Bowling Clubs of Texas" Second Place KHOU-TV, Houston Fascinating story, very well-produced. I could have watched Kyle Porter more on this story. Second Place KVUE-TV, Austin An excellent presentation. Great variety of graphics that helped Albert Ramon depict and explain the situation. Good balance between delivering the "breaking weather" and the daily forecast.
