A number of management changes within the club brought about change and a fresh approach to administration, financial management and coaching. The success of the revamped High Performance Program was reflected in the club results, not only with regards to team performances but also individual achievements. The club had the opportunity to host a number of visiting oversees club teams at the start of the year. These teams enjoyed the beautiful Stellenbosch setting, challenging hockey and friendly hospitality on offer at the club. A total of 12 such club matches were hosted by Maties, all three clubs (Pucara, Newman and Santa Barbara) reigned from clubs in Argentina. Steinhoff as a sponsor enjoyed maximum benefit from their investment, with the club’s ever growing and extremely popular Koshuis section. The Koshuis section included the highly competitive Summer League to start the season. 52 teams competed for the two titles. Winter league, had 63 teams participating in 4 men and 4 women’s leagues. Steinhoff Maties Medies and were crowned Ladies Super league Champions and Steinhoff Helshoogte were the men’s Super League Champions. The club also hosted three successful pre-season tournaments during March. The 31st Maties Hockey Camp hosted 38 Teams from all over South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The logistic of the camp were hampered by the Universities decision to not allow access to residences during the camp time.
