Marlena graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts in Italian and German, and studied singing privately under the tutelage of Frances Wilson. She followed this with a language exchange programme in Florence before returning to undertake a Bachelor of Music Honours in Performance Voice. Marlena completed her ¿UVW\HDURID0DVWHUVGHJUHHDWWKH0DQKDWWDQ6FKRRORI0XVLFLQ1HZ<RUNVWXG\LQJ with Marlena Malas, and performed in The Ghosts of Versailles and scenes from Les Contes d’Hoffman (Antonia) with the Manhattan School of Music Opera Studio. MARLENA Operatic experience includes performing in the Auckland Opera Studio’s productions DEVOE of La Sonnambula (Amina) and La Clemenza di Tito (Servilia) and performing as the New Zealand | 25 Soprano Soloist in the University of Auckland’s staged production of Carmina Burana. Marlena is the fortunate recipient of sponsorship from AMP New Zealand, Rothbury and Risk, Creative New Zealand and The Kelliher Trust. ANNA studies on the opera course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She won the Hamburger Prize 2011 and the MBF Miriam Licette Prize 2012 for her interpretations of lied and French song. Anna has sung in the Oxford Lieder, City of /RQGRQDQG&KHOWHQKDP)HVWLYDOVLQWKH%DUELFDQIRU,Q7XQHRQ5DGLRDQGLQ venues across Italy. Anna’s concert repertoire includes Exultate Jubilate, Nelson Mass and Messiah. She made her professional opera debut with Garsington Opera in 2011. Roles performed at Guildhall include Mrs. Julian in Britten Owen Wingrave; in scenes she has sung Manon, Donna Elvira, Violetta, Nannetta, Pamina, Norina, Poppea and Fiordiligi.Anna read Music at Queens’ College, Cambridge and graduated with a Double ANNA First in 2010. Future roles include the lead in Donizetti’s Francesca di Foix at Guildhall; GILLINGHAM Weir’s one woman opera King Harald’s Saga at the Southbank; and the Blue Fairy in British | 24 Dove’s Pinocchio at Guildhall. KATIE is a British Soprano. Katie has studied at the RNCM,RCM,CIAV and has recently completed her MA in advanced Vocal studies at the Wales International Academy of Voice. He graduated from the Emerging Performers Program at the Australian Opera Studio in 2008.John has made concert appearances in Germany, Italy, Japan and Australia with highlights including Faure’s La Naissance de Venus at the Konzerthaus Berlin, Handel’s Israel in Egypt with the Berliner Cappella and Gala Concerts at the Shinjuku Bunka Centre in Tokyo, Japan.His awards encompass all of Australia’s major Eisteddfods and competitions and in 2009 he won the prestigious Herald Sun Aria and the Opera and Arts Support Group Scholarship and in 2011 the inaugural Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award.
