The list comprises 116 species of Noctuidae (26.4% of the Polish fauna), 116 species of Geometridae (28.4% of the Polish fauna) and 63 species of other Macrolepidoptera representatives (27.9% of the Polish fauna). The remaining 123 species were represented by Microlepidoptera. Nearly 10% of the species were associated with wetland habitats, what constitutes a surprisingly large proportion in such an urbanised area. Comparing the obtained data with previous studies concerning Polish urban fauna of Lepidoptera, the moths assemblages in the Botanical Garden were the most similar to the one from the Natolin Forest Reserve which protects the legacy of Mazovian forests. Several recorded moths appertain to locally and rarely encountered species, as Stegania cararia, Melanthia procellata, Pasiphila chloerata, Eupithecia haworthiata, Horisme corticata, Xylomoia graminea, Polychrysia moneta. In the light of the conducted studies, the Botanical Garden in Lublin stands out as quite high biodiversity and can be regarded as a refuge for moths within the urban limits of Lublin. -

Anyone hoping for an upturn in mothing fortunes following the topsy-turvy summer of 2011 was likely to have been disappointed. In fact, I don’t think I can recall any other year since NMS started in 1985, when so many of our planned field meetings have succumbed to adverse weather conditions. Lynford was postponed, Brettenham was a non-event, and our joint meeting with the Suffolk Moth Group for National Moth Night was cancelled. One suggestion resulting from all this is that in future we should encourage everyone to check information on the website on the day of the event if conditions are likely to be unfavourable. Hopefully that may prevent un-necessary journeys from being undertaken. Having said all that, the remaining field trips were fairly successful, and reports on them are included in this newsletter. As always, we are grateful to all of you who have supported these events in any way. Given the circumstances, it is hardly surprising that migrant species were also relatively sparse in appearance this year. Dave Hipperson has compiled the usual list of records received so far. If you have any outstanding migrant records, do please send them in as an additional list will be included in the newsletter next spring. One of the more exciting migrants that did turn up was a new county record in the form of the pyrale Sclerocona acutellus, the so-called Thatch Pearl. -

Entomol. Fennica 21: 243253. Parasitoids of leaf-spinning Lepidoptera associated with two isolated central Eu- ropean peat bogs were investigated. Five families of parasitoid Hymenoptera (Braconidae, Ichneumonidae, Eulophidae, Pteromalidae and Encyrtidae) were recorded. Three categories were recognised: (1) primary parasitoids, (2) faculta- tive hyperparasitoids and (3) obligatory hyperparasitoids. Ten species of Braco- nidae, five species and seven marked morphospecies among Ichneumonidae, and three species of Chalcidoidea were identified. Despite of some niche-specific (but less host-specific) parasitoids, all these hymenopterans are likely to be gen- eralists and none of them were confirmed to be habitat and/or host specialists. Unlike their eurytopic (opportunistic tyrphoneutral) parasitoids, the Lepidoptera hosts associated with peat bogs are partially highly stenotopic (tyrphobionts and tyrphophiles). The occurrence of parasitoids compared to their potential hosts was structured along an ecological (mesoclimatic) gradient, so most parasitoids were recorded from margins while stenotopic (narrow habitat adaptation) moths were mostly distributed near the centre of the bog habitat. Seventynine species of leaf-mining microlepidoptera are recorded from Bad Gleichenberg (Styria, Austria). The species inventory includes following new county records: Stigmella lapponica, Stigmella nivenburgensis (Nepticulidae), Caloptilia fidella, Parectopa robiniella (furthermore new for Burgenland), Phyllonorycter issikii, Phyllonorycter robiniella and Phyllonorycter stettinensis (Gracillariidae). A total of 886 taxa were found. Einleitung Der 19. Südtiroler Tag der Artenvielfalt wurde am 30. Juni 2018 im Talschluss von Ulten abgehalten. Wie in den Jahren zuvor oblag dem Naturmuseum Südtirol sowohl die Organisation im Vorfeld als auch die Koordination vor Ort. Begleitend zu den Felderhebungen der zahlreichen Fachleute (siehe einzelne Beiträge) war ein didakti- sches Rahmenprogramm vorgesehen, das eine vogelkundliche und eine naturkundliche Wanderung im Untersuchungsgebiet (Organisation: Nationalpark Stilfserjoch unter der Koordination von Ronald Oberhofer) sowie ein Kinder- und Familienprogramm im Nationalparkhaus Lahnersäge in St. Gertraud umfasste (Organisation und Durchführung durch die Mitarbeiterinnen des Naturmuseums Südtirol Johanna Platzgummer, Elisabeth Waldner und Verena Preyer). Introduction The Checklist of the Lepidoptera of the British Isles has previously been amended (Agassiz, Beavan & Heckford 2016a, 2016b, 2019 and 2020). This update details 4 species new to the main list and 3 to Appendix A. Numerous taxonomic changes are incorporated and country distributions are updated. CENSUS The number of species now recorded from the British Isles stands at 2,558 of which 58 are thought to be extinct and in addition there are 191 adventive species.
