The goal is to provide overarching guidance and goals for the effective management of the Society over an extended period of time. It is not meant to be a fixed end point but rather something that should be periodically revised to reflect changes to internal and external conditions. As part of this process a review of other strategic plans from various historical societies was conducted in an attempt to understand the key issues other like organizations have been faced with. Further, the long proven tools used by many organizations has been applied so that we can be as thorough as possible. Finally, the goals provided are done so in a way that can be measured and compared so progress and success can be readily determined.
