Hence the need to design a database of the Italian alimurgic flora: AlimurgITA. Only strictly alimurgic taxa were chosen, excluding casual alien and cultivated ones. The collected data come from an archive of 358 texts (books and scientific articles) from 1918 to date, chosen with appropriate criteria. For each taxon, the part of the plant used, the method of use, the chorotype, the biological form and the regional distribution in Italy were considered. The 1103 taxa of edible flora already entered in the database equal 13.09% of Italian flora. The most widespread family is that of the Asteraceae (20.22%); the most widely used taxa are Cichorium intybus and Borago officinalis. The not homogeneous regional distribution of WEPs (maximum in the south and minimum in the north) has been interpreted. Texts published reached its peak during the 2001–2010 decade. Combinative Effect of Salvia Sclarea L., Artemisia Annua and Dracocephalum Heterophyllum B

Accepted 9 July, 2013 Antibacterial properties of essential oils (EOs) extracted from Salvia sclarea, Artemisia annua and Dracocephalum heterophyllum against 17 food borne pathogens was studied. EOs of the three plants showed a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity with different degrees of inhibition against the tested Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. EOs of Salvia and Dracocephalum depicted bactericidal mode of action while that of Artemisia inhibited the bacteria with bacteriostatic mode. Salmonella enterica MTCC 733 was the most sensitive strain to Salvia, Artemisia and Dracocephalum EOs with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 2000, 2000 and 8000 µg/ml, respectively. The antimicrobial activity of EOs individually and in combinations based on their respective MIC values against S. enterica was tested in raw chicken. Treatment of food sample with 20 times MIC value of S. sclarea, A. annua and D. heterophyllum EOs individually caused reduction of bacterial load to 3.36, 3.64 and 4.22 log cfu/g after 180 min. In contrast the bacterial cell loads reduced to an undetectable level by the combinative effect ( Salvia + Dracocephalum and Salvia + Artemisia ) of EOs at MIC value after 120 and 180 min, respectively. -

The common name refers to its strong, sage-like aroma and endemism to California and Baja California. Other names include: coastal sage, coast sage, coast sagebrush (Painter 2016). D. Taxonomic relationships The FNA (2017) places this species in subgenus Artemisia . The molecular phylogeny of the genus has improved the understanding of relationships among the many species of Artemisia and has, at times, placed the species in subgenus Tridentadae; morphology of the inflorescences and flowers alone does not place this species with its closest relatives (Watson et al. 2002). The detailed phylogeny is not completely resolved (Hayat et al. 2009). E. Related taxa in region There are 18 species and a total of 31 taxa (including infrataxa) of Artemisia in southern California, all of which differ clearly from A. californica in habitat affinity, structure, or both (Munz 1974, Jepson eFlora 2017). Within subgenus Artemisia (as per FNA 2017), A. nesiotica from the Channel Islands is the most similar and was once considered part of A. californica ; it can be distinguished by its wider leaves with flat leaf margins (not rolled under). -
