Writing Research Papers Question: How do I find the source texts for Part 1? Why aren’t they just provided?

Answer: In the old days when doing research, a student had to travel to the library and learn to use the various book and magazine catalogs, and then hope that the book or article they needed was in the library’s archive. Today, we have all that research at our fingertips on the Internet. Part I of Writing Research Papers will give you and your student practice access specific articles using a search engine. In Part 2, they will learn how to locate and filter sources on their own. To find the articles, simply insert the information about the article provided into a search engine (such as google.com). By accessing the article online, the host page gets search points which are a way that we can thank them for providing the articles. To save you time typing, you can simply select the text of the article title and author as printed below, copy it, and paste it into any search engine (e.g., Google.com). The article will usually be the first hit. Even better, you can give the handout on the next page to your students as homework after your orientation or first class and have them locate and print the article themselves.
