PRIKAZ/REVIEW Salih Jalimam, KULIN. VELIKI BAN BOSNE
Adnan HADŽIABDIĆ Sarajevo E-mail: [email protected] Stručni rad/Professional article UDK/UDC:94:929(497.6)“1180/1204“ Jalimam S. (049.3) Salih Jalimam, KULIN. I Ono Što Je Karakteristično Za Bosance Bilo, Je to Da, Na Primjer, Sve Svete
Jelica Stojanović THE DEVELOPMENT PATH OF THE SERBIAN LANGUAGE AND SCRIPT Podgorica 2020 MILOš KOVAčEVIć THE DEVELOPMENT PATH OF THE SERBIAN LANGUAGE AND SCRIPT, MADE UP OF STRAY PATHS Only two years have passed from the two hundredth anni- versary of the beginning of Vuk Karadžić’s struggle for “intro- ducing the folk language in literature”, that is to say, from the introduction of the Serbian folk language in the Serbian literary language, or to put it in the more modern phrasing of today: the standard language. The beginning of that struggle is connected to the year 1814, when, in the royal city of Vienna, Vuk’s first grammar book came out: The Orthography of the Serbian Lan- guage Based on the Speech of the Common Folk, which dealt with resolving the three most important standard-related issues: a) the issue of the Serbian orthography, b) the issue of the morpho- logical structure of the Serbian language, and c) the issue of the name of the language and its national boundaries. Rare are the languages, if, indeed, there are any, which have had such a turbulent history of two hundred years. The histor- ical development of a language can be followed at two histor- ical levels: that of its internal and that of its external history. -
Evolution and Condition of the Elites in Bosnia-Herzegovina – a Personal View
Evolution and Condition of the Elites in Bosnia-Herzegovina – A Personal View Ivo Lučić History taught us that Medieval Hum and Bosnia were repre - sented by its noble rulers: from Prince Miroslav to Herzog Stipan, from Ban Kulin to Stipan Tomašević. A numerous lower gentry were active too. The Turkish occupation changed radi - cally the society of Herzegovina and Bosnia. The power was handed in to Turkish pashas, bays, and ‘aga’s, whilst the Christian millets had their own noblemen who acted as guardians of spirit and identity of their communities. The latter included mainly the Orthodox and Catholic priests, but also the local, popular princes of whose presence and activity we find a witness in a 1551 letter from Pope Julius to two princi - pals of Duvno ( Dilecti filiis Comiti ), Grga Lučić and Pavle Vučković; the Pope informs them that he has acknowledged their recommendations and appointed Fr Danijel Glasnović from Split a bishop of Duvno Diocese. The conquered Herzegovinan and Bosnian land turned into an Ottoman (Sultan) property and was ruled by vezirs, bays, and agas. The Christian landsmen cultivated the land they could not own, and were not allowed to build on it, except for wall- stones. They lived hard by cultivating the piece of land they could plough by a pair of oxen. They paid high tax and were not allowed to leave the land without permission. However, they could have been ordered to move, and ‘their’ land con - fiscated, at once. The Christians were allowed to work in min - ing and as artisans serving the needs of the empire. -

The New Cambridge Medieval History
The New Cambridge Medieval History The fourth volume of The New Cambridge Medieval History covers the eleventh and twelfth centuries, which comprised perhaps the most dynamic period in the European middle ages. This is a history of Europe, but the continent is interpreted widely to include the Near East and North Africa as well. The volume is divided into two Parts of which this, the second, deals with the course of events, ecclesiastical and secular, and major developments in an age marked by the transformation of the position of the papacy in a process fuelled by a radical reformation of the church, the decline of the western and eastern empires, the rise of western kingdoms and Italian elites, and the development of governmental structures, the beginnings of the recovery of Spain from the Moors and the establishment of western settlements in the eastern Mediterranean region in the wake of the crusades. The Bogomils in Macedonia - Medieval Roots of Protestantism, Renaissance and Socialist Movements the Secret Book of Bogomils
Basil Chulev --- • ⊕ • --- The Bogomils in Macedonia - Medieval Roots of Protestantism, Renaissance and Socialist Movements The Secret Book of Bogomils Skopje, Macedonia 2015 БОГОМИЛИ ֎ ֍ Abstract: Acts of Cathar Assembly, held in 1167 in San Felix de Carmen, near Toulous, France, represent an important historic source when the question of existence of heretic church organizations is considered. Pope Nikita of Constantinople, who belonged to heretic Bogomil church of Dragovitia (in Aegean Macedonia), known for its strict dualistic orientation, chaired the assembly. There he speaks of the existence of churches of Romania (i.e. Eastern Roman empire), Dragometia, Melingia, Bulgaria and Dalmatia, and points out that they are separated from the churches of old Rome and Constantinopolitana Nova Roma, and that they are strong and live in peace. Introduction : The mediaeval heresies were convulsive reaction on the feudal oppression and widespread corruption of the Christian church. When Constantin I the Great made the Christianity official religion of the Roman empire he couldn’t predict that the Christian church will became one with the power of the government. At first it was meant to be in the service of the state and its supreme ruler, the emperor, but the things went wrong, for the rulers and for the Christianity as well. Further, following the division of the Roman empire in Eastern and Western parts, the church refined its political doctrine, and developed its structure in a way that could penetrate and absorb the function of the government to its purposefulness. Thus abandoning its own foundations based on the teachings as recorded in the Old and New Testament.
